Position Description
Position Summary
This position provides end user support for the maintenance of existing applications as well as the creation of new applications based on user needs. Additionally, this position is responsible for analyzing user needs and software requirements, review of available options, support for third party software solutions, and the creation and maintenance of server-based applications. Initially, the employee will be responsible to learn the necessary programming tools utilizing training resources. The employee will gain proficiency and independence as they progress. The employee should be an active team resource related to their knowledge of their assigned programming duties.
Education Required
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent related experience
Education Preferred Experience Required
Experience, including coursework, in structured application development.
Experience Preferred Skills, Characteristics Required For Position
On-call responsibility for specific applications being supported

- Strong analytical and problem solving skills
- Effective communication skills including active listening, verbal, and written communication skills
- Understanding of data bases and server-based applications
- Understanding of PC and web-based application development environments; experience with Oracle products preferred.
- Customer service focus; ability to effectively respond to users’ system support needs
- Ability to work independently with some supervision
- Strong organizational skills, including time management skills and the ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities with some guidance
- Strong attention to detail

- Provide user support for in-house applications and assume role of user liaison to vendor for third-party products.
- Analyze, create, test, and maintain in-house applications, including support of operations, modifications, upgrades, interfaces, and migrations.
- Implement and maintain third party applications, including support of operations, modifications, upgrades, interfaces, and migrations.
- Manage assigned systems, including support of operations, documentation, upgrades, and system monitoring.
- Provide training to end users on assigned in-house applications and third party software products.
- Maintain consistent and reliable attendance.
- Provide backup support for user groups and applications supported by other programmers.
- Ongoing professional development.
- Other duties as assigned.
