Programme Manager
We are seeking a proactive and purpose fuelled Programme Manager to help us manage and deliver client projects within our growth portfolio. With experience coordinating multi-stakeholder projects and managing budgets, schedules and client relationships, you’ll be a trusted point of contact who ensures the smooth running of client projects and programmes to a class-leading standard.
Location: Flexible (Hybrid)
Contract: Full-Time
Who we are:
Outside is an award-winning, research based consultancy helping clients harness the new science of mindset to transform their futures. We help our clients develop the leaders of tomorrow, find new avenues for growth in uncertain times, and build agile, future ready cultures. Our programme management team is the engine room of our work: ensuring high quality client experiences, operational efficiency and the smart use of Outside’s resources.
About the role:
Working alongside our Head of Growth and Innovation and Growth Consultants, the purpose of this role is to provide high‑quality, end‑to‑end programme management to our clients and team. You will bring structure, rhythm and clarity to complex work - from planning and commercial set‑up, to keeping actions on track - while role‑modelling the mindset and values that underpin how we operate.
Key pillars of responsibility:
1) Commercial & Contracting
- Support contracting and SoW administration; set up POs and client onboarding where required
- Track budgets and forecasts, where relevant; manage invoicing and expenses with high accuracy; flag variances early.
- Maintain up to date records / filing and decision logs so information is easy to find
2) Planning & Delivery
- Partner with Consulting team to plan and structure programmes/client initiatives from beginning to close
- Build and maintain integrated plans (milestones, critical paths, dependencies) and a single source‑of‑truth per project
- Monitor progress against goals; surface risks and clashes early and coordinate mitigations
- Produce concise status updates covering progress, upcoming milestones, risks/dependencies and required decisions
- Capture learning and evidence; feed improvements back into delivery and planning tools
3) Scheduling & Follow-up
- Set programme rhythms (planning cycles, progress reviews, decision checkpoints) that keep work moving
- Coordinate diaries for our growth consultants and coaches; shape agendas; attend calls as needed; capture key actions; follow through where relevant
- Keep the right people informed at the right time with clear, timely communication
4) Logistics & Production
- Create event briefs; lead logistics and source venues (including supplier liaison, client needs and H&S) where in scope
- Own logistics end‑to‑end: run‑sheets, travel and itineraries, shipping materials, on‑site set‑up and close‑down
- Oversee programme materials from brief through iterations to final assets; proof for quality and timing
5) Client & Stakeholder Partnership
- Act as a central point of contact for clients and participants, ensuring a consistent, high‑quality experience
- Build strong relationships across key stakeholders; resolve issues with pace and good judgement
- Own participant communications and onboarding flow (briefing comms, event / workshop agendas, introductory emails and community touchpoints) to create a clear, welcoming experience.
To be successful, you’ll have
- High organisational and planning skills with the flexibility to respond to changing situations
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy; confidence raising risks or quality concerns early so actions can be taken
- The foresight to plan ahead, prioritise and sequence work while keeping stakeholders aligned
- Confidence dealing with people at all levels of an organisation and the ability to build strong relationships
- Excellent communication skills, with the judgement to determine who needs to be kept informed on specific topics and what priority actions are based on timelines
- Strong writing skills - able to craft clear comms and concise client updates.
Our must‑haves:
- Previous experience in a similar programme or project management role in a fast‑paced, client‑facing environment
- Strong IT skills across Microsoft 365 (including SharePoint), virtual call platforms such as MS Teams, and project management tools like Click-Up
- High accuracy and ownership of outcomes; comfortable managing budgets, POs and invoices
- Positive, upbeat energy and lots of enthusiasm
- A team player with the drive to learn and adapt fast
What we look for:
Being successful and satisfied here means we’re open together about three things when we bring in new team members:
- Capability - Can you do the job we need today, and can you grow into your next job here?
- Character - Do our values align in a way that builds mutual trust and commitment over time?
- Motivation - What deeply motivates you, and will those needs be met by the role, rewards and culture at Outside?
What we offer and why join us:
Salary: competitive
Private medical insurance
Pension plan
A purpose-driven role with real scope for impact - programme management is a core function, not a tactical add-on.
You’ll join a consultancy committed to leading our field and shaping the future of leadership, growth and culture work, creating real opportunity for your development.
Our purpose is to be a driving force of human evolution. In a more uncertain world where machines can think, we believe success means re-thinking our relationship with work. Working at Outside will help equip you for that future.
You’ll be part of a team that cares deeply about our purpose and work, alongside being intentional about building a healthy, caring culture. We come together in person to connect and create, operating with minimal viable bureaucracy as a team of highly accountable individuals.
