Job title: Production Operator (Night Shift)

Location: Chandlers Ford, Southampton
Working hours: 40.25 hours a week
Shifts: 7pm to 7am, 4 days on, 4 days off
Basic Salary £26663 + Shift Allowance = Total salary, £28,982.68
Existing Agency Workers at CooperVision: you are welcome to apply for a permanent role—however, if you fail the direct recruitment process, your current contract with the agency will be terminated.
Please note we are unable to offer sponsorship, you must have full right to work in the UK
Applicants will be invited to complete an online test as the first stage of the application, those that are successful will be invited to one of our regular Assessment Centres which involves a team exercise, one to one interview and a tour of the site.

On a day to day basis, you will:
- Follow all company safety policies and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
- Operate machinery safely in accordance with H&S regulations, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Company Work instructions.
- Record production data in accordance with company procedures and SOP’s and as directed from time to time
- Handling and processing lenses
- Quality inspections to maintain the highest standard in accordance with company procedures
- Operational/ business unit housekeeping
About you:
We are looking for someone with a positive attitude, good English communication skills, and the ability to follow instructions and handle repetitive tasks effectively.
Experience & Education:
- Good communication skills with the ability to communicate well with all team members including line managers and support operations in English
- Understanding and adherence of Health and Safety and quality procedures
- Observant to any changes on the line and be prepared to take effective action to overcome minor issues using a ‘hands-on’ approach to solve, where practical and in a timely manner
- To be proactive in matters relating to continuous improvement to meet business requirements.
- Flexibility to work on a variety of tasks and willing to learn new skills on multiple lines and different business areas, including Hamble, Chandlers Ford and both when needed.
- Able to handle repetitive work and to ensure consistency of work standards.
- Quality conscious
- You will be working within a demanding, yet informal, multicultural, English speaking, inclusive environment, where there is an ongoing expectation and responsibility to maximise productivity time and productivity levels to ensure targets are met.
- The immediate work area is open plan with lots of moving equipment with team members in close proximity.
- Controlled manufacturing environment with a ‘clean room’ area with gowning procedure required e.g. all hair covered, legs covered, no make-up and no heels.
- The work, over a 12-hour shift is physically demanding and a significant proportion of the shift will require the member of staff to stand.
- Some of our work areas have a high level of noise. Where this is above prescribed limits PPE is supplied and must be worn
- In some roles you may be required to handle chemicals. Full PPE and training will be provided.
- Will be required to undergo mandatory annual surveillance health checks.
- Teamwork will be required, under the supervision of a Team Leader/ Shift Leader.
