Production Operator

The Role

This position is responsible for the set up and operation of equipment which manufactures, processes and packages our customer products and associated activities with reception and shipping of materials. Position ensures the highest quality product at the lowest possible costs while meeting customer specifications and delivery requirements in accordance with Avient Corporation policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

General

• Start up and run equipment as per SOPs
• Ensure the quality of product is maintained at all times.
• Check and confirm all materials are correct for the job.
• Load machine and creel (weight of 20KG)
• Follows and complies with all safety and work rules and regulations. Maintains departmental housekeeping standards.
• Work in a safe manner at all times following the Health and Safety guidelines including selecting appropriate PPE.
• Accurately report production in Jomar
• Participate in all company training as required
• Escalate manufacturing concerns such as quality or schedule compliance deviance to Manufacturing Team Leader.
• Consistently work in line with defined internal control systems such as CCMS, 5S, Lean, and total preventative maintenance.
• Support projects and initiatives by undertaking assigned next steps.
• Proactively consider and suggest improvements in all areas to your Line Manager.
• Refers issues/problems to Production Lead or Production/Shift Supervisor for disposition.
• Performs all required machine cleaning.
  
  

Winding

• Correctly label product as per SOPs
• Identify and use the correct tube for the job in hand.
• Thread tension device
• Identify faulty packages and other material quality issues.
  
  

Twisting

• Wrap bobbin in the correct twist direction depending on the required job.
• Change travellers and know the difference in travellers to be used.
• Ability to run either the 2 for 1 or ring spinner but not both.
  
  

Essential

Qualifications & Experience

• Previous experience of operating machinery in a manufacturing environment
• 5 GCSE’s A – C or equivalent
• Numerate
• Attention to detail
• Problem Solving
• Good communication skills
• Manual Dexterity
• Computer literate
  
  

Desirable

• Fork Lift license
