Full Time

Band 6

  • 37338 to £44962 per annum


Plus 5% fringe London weighting

37.5 hours per week.

This is an exciting opportunity to be involved within a small dynamic team of community podiatrists caring for patients in West Essex.

We are looking for an experienced, well-motivated, forward thinking Podiatrist who is looking for the opportunity to demonstrate and further their clinical skills and join our friendly, progressive team. (Band 5 looking for career progression will also be considered on merit)

You will need to be able to work independently and as part of a team and have excellent clinical and communication skills, these skills are essential as you will be providing a quality service to patients in a variety of clinical settings including patient’s homes.

We have specialist clinics in Diabetes, Wound care, Nail Surgery and Musculoskeletal Podiatry.

We also work closely with Podiatric Surgery, Patient Appliances, Tissue Viability and Multidisciplinary Diabetic Foot Team based at Princess Alexandra Hospital and surrounding areas.

Staff are well supported and encouraged to progress their skills and knowledge.

You will need to flexible to meet the needs of the service.

Car driver and access to vehicle for job role essential.

Main duties of the job

To autonomously assess and diagnose patients with a diverse range of medical and podiatric conditions, using appropriate diagnostic techniques, skills and tools to provide a high quality service. To develop and implement treatment plans both in clinical and domiciliary settings. To be able to work on own initiative and as part of a team.

To participate in new patient assessment clinics, routine clinics, ulcer clinics, domiciliary and nail surgery.

To communicate complex information with patients, colleagues, administrative staff and other health care professionals.

To work in collaboration with specialist teams, GP’s, and other health care professionals.

To work in accordance with the departments standards and professional codes of conduct.

To be responsible for maintaining accurate and appropriate standards of documentation.

Participate in and encourage sharing of best practice and knowledge. Actively seeking new knowledge, innovations and developing appropriate change.

To participate in delivering training and education to both patients, students and other health professionals. To supervise and monitor students on placement and apprentices.

Undertake physical assessment of patients in clinic or domiciliary setting, involving specific patient movement and handling, in order to accurately undertake assessment.

The post holder will be required to travel across all areas of West Essex and will at all times work alone, independently and as part of a team.
