Are you an experienced Platform Engineer, who is looking to work in a fast paced, global, market leading company?
Here at Innovative Technology, we are seeking a skilled Platform Engineer to join our team on a 6-month fixed-term contract to design and implement scalable internal systems that empower developers, reduce operational friction, and promote secure-by-default best practices.
You will work across infrastructure, tooling, and developer workflows to build reliable, self-service platforms that scale with the company. This role will be based at our Head Office in Oldham, Greater Manchester.
Your Responsibilities as a Platform Engineer:
Trading for over 30 years here at Innovative Technology, where we now have offices on five continents and employ around 400 people, with over 150 based from our state-of-the-art R&D hub.
From self-service checkouts to arcade machines, we provide our retail, banking, kiosk, vending, gaming and amusement customers with products and services that help them securely accept automated payments, with our industry-leading technology keeping us at the forefront of our sector. We also provide facial analysis technology for age estimation and control access for some of the world’s leading companies.

Here at Innovative Technology, we are seeking a skilled Platform Engineer to join our team on a 6-month fixed-term contract to design and implement scalable internal systems that empower developers, reduce operational friction, and promote secure-by-default best practices.
You will work across infrastructure, tooling, and developer workflows to build reliable, self-service platforms that scale with the company. This role will be based at our Head Office in Oldham, Greater Manchester.
Your Responsibilities as a Platform Engineer:
- Build internal platforms and paved paths that abstract complexity and enable teams to deploy, operate, and monitor their services independently
- Codify infrastructure using tools like Terraform or Pulumi to ensure consistency, repeatability, and auditability across environments
- Develop and maintain developer tooling and golden templates (CI/CD pipelines, scaffolds, environments) to standardize best practices across teams
- Design and implement observability frameworks (metrics, tracing, logging, alerting) that are easy to consume and part of the platform baseline
- Eliminate repetitive tasks through automation and opinionated defaults, so teams are not blocked by manual requests or low-level details
- Collaborate with engineers to understand common pain points and continuously improve platform usability, reliability, and documentation
- Embed security and compliance into platform tooling and workflows so that teams adopt safe patterns by default not by exception
- Proven experience as a Platform Engineer, DevOps Engineer, or Site Reliability Engineer
- Strong understanding of cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure)
- Proficient in scripting or programming (Python, Go, Bash, etc.)
- Experience with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes)
- Familiarity with CI/CD systems (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins, etc.)
- Hands-on experience with infrastructure-as-code tools (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation)
- Knowledge of observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack, Datadog, etc.).
- Solid grasp of Linux systems and networking fundamentals
- Strong problem-solving and debugging skills
