The Project

Mace has been appointed on a framework for a transport client. The successful assistant risk manager (project not enterprise) will work on large-scale complex rail, road, bus or even property related projects. Mace consult will provide project controls/PMO services for the new build construction work of multiple secure sites throughout the UK.

You’ll Be Responsible For

  • Leading the planning team to provide planning support for all aspects of project planning including ensuring consistent and competent monitoring, recording and analysis of performance against baseline and the change control process.
  • Developing and implementing business strategy that identifies and embeds planning lessons learned.
  • Establishing and maintaining a highly motivated programme planning team.
  • Managing of the implementation of planning work processes and procedures in accordance with pathway and otherwise approved deviations.
  • Assessing and determining need for change to planning processes and methods and implement changes to deliver improved performance.
  • Assessing contractual schedules and compensation events to support the business in schedule related commercial aspects.
  • Analysing, reviewing and highlighting critical time schedule issues and ensure viable resolution plans are in place.
  • Identifying and analysing performance across a programme of critical path projects.
  • Planing and managing complex multi-project programme time schedules to ensure delivery of intended TfL business benefits.
  • Conducting project controls orientation/training sessions for programme team(s) and assist senior management with the interpretation of periodic time schedule/cost reports.
  • Provisioning on-going training for those in the business unit planning pool to manage capability assessment/development.
  • Collating best practice intelligence from both external and internal sources to be shared with central areas/business unit.
  • Accountable for driving and leading a positive safety culture within TfL projects and ensuring their team is invested in managing and improving HSE performance.
  • Demonstrating leadership in equality of opportunity, social inclusion, fair employment and environmental sustainability, creating open, inclusive and engaging environment within TfL and across stakeholders, customers and supply chain.

You’ll Need To Have

  • Exposure of working as a Primavera P6 project planner on large scale construction/civils/infrastructure projects ideally for a tier 1 contractor or a client side consultancy.
  • A construction related degree (civil/structural engineering, or construction/project management or equivalent).
  • Digitally savvy, can build lasting client relationships and lead strong, motivated teams. You have experience of working on large projects/programmes.
  • A construction or project management background and be hungry to grow your career and enjoy the opportunities Mace have to offer.
