Job Overview

This post is Fixed term/Secondment until 31/03/2025 to meet the needs of the service.

We have an excellent opportunity within our friendly department for an enthusiastic and motivated Pharmacy Technician to join our Vaccination & Immunisation Service.

If you have the ability to work using your own initiative, have good communication skills, a high level of accuracy and are keen to develop your skills this is the job for you!

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Main duties of the job

  • A dvises practice on cold-chain and governance procedures
  • Analysing patient prescribing data, using the audit tools available, and discuss the results with prescribers.
  • By observation and audit ensure robust repeat prescribing systems are in place and implemented. Assist in training of staff laid down by documented protocols.
  • Provide support to the Locality Lead Medicines Management in practice medicines management meetings.
  • Support Medicines Management developments in the locality being first point of contact, in relation to for example fridge failures.
  • Obtaining drug, therapeutic and pharmaceutical information.
  • Provide elements of training for new members of staff and the local acute hospital pre-registration pharmacy students and diploma pharmacists, including competency sign-off.
  • Responsible for the vaccine rooms within the local vaccination centres, ensuring cold-chain governance and compliance.

Qualifications And/or Knowledge

Essential criteria

  • Registration with General Pharmaceutical Council.
  • NVQ Level 3 in pharmacy services with BTEC National Certificate in Pharmacy Services or equivalent

Desirable criteria

  • Accredited Medicines Management
  • Pharmacy Technician Qualification or is willing to undertake this qualification
  • European Computer Driving Licence (ECDL)

Experience

Essential criteria

  • Working within a multidisciplinary team

Desirable criteria

  • Experience of working in a primary care pharmacy team
  • Previous medicines management experience
  • Audit experience
