Job Description
We as a family are seeking a compassionate, patient, and experienced carer to support our son Mason. He is 14-year-old soon to be 15. Mason is diagnosed with Autism, intellectual disability and ADHD. The role involves supporting Mason to be safe and active member of the community as he enjoys a wide range of activities.
Responsibilities
Wednesday, Thursday, Friday – 15.30pm – 17.30pm
The hours out of school term would be the following
Wednesday, Thursday, Friday – 9.00am – 17.00

Job Description

The role involves supporting Mason to be safe and active member of the community as he enjoys a wide range of activities.
Responsibilities
- Provide one-on-one support in the afternoons, including attending activities like swimming, bike rides, parks and scooter rides.
- Assist with communication using alternative methods (e.g., PECS, gestures, or AAC devices).
- Ensure safety and well-being at all times.
- Support the development of life skills and encourage independence where possible.
- Build a trusting, consistent relationship through a flexible and person and family centred approach.
- Experience working with children with autism, particularly those who are non-verbal.
- Calm, empathetic, and adaptable in varied situations.
- Knowledge of autism-specific strategies and tools for communication.
- Able to work collaboratively with parents and therapists.
- Flexibility in working hours and approach.
- Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle is desirable.
- Terms and conditions, including wages, will be discussed upon application.
- Enhanced disclosure check required (or willingness to undergo one).
- References will be requested, Paid annual leave of 5.6 weeks pro rata.
