Contract type: Part time

We are Hestia. We make a difference.
At Hestia, we are guided by our core values and are dedicated to fostering an equitable, diverse, and inclusive organisation. Our mission is to empower individuals to rebuild their lives and achieve independence. Right now, we are looking for a Team Leader to play a pivotal role in our Domestic Abuse Service in location.
Sounds great, what will I be doing?
This role involves overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Hackney Domestic Abuse Service, ensuring high-quality, responsive support for women, children, and young people affected by domestic violence. The postholder is responsible for maintaining service compliance with legal requirements, contract specifications, and internal policies. Key duties include supervising and developing staff, managing safeguarding protocols, monitoring service performance, and ensuring that service users are actively involved in shaping the support they receive. Working closely with the Service Manager, the role also contributes to financial oversight, health and safety, property management, and maintaining accurate records and reports.
The position requires effective partnership working with a range of agencies, including schools, health professionals, housing services, and the police, to deliver a seamless, joined-up approach to support. The role includes mentoring apprentices and students, participating in recruitment and grievance processes, and contributing to a co-produced service model that promotes user empowerment and independence. The postholder must also be prepared to take on additional responsibilities in the absence of the Service Manager and participate in the out-of-hours emergency on-call rota.
What do I need to bring with me?
You'll need to be able to demonstrate the core skills this role requires as well as match our values and mission. You don't have to tick all the boxes right away; the important thing is that you're willing to learn. We also value lived experience of the areas we support, so if you feel comfortable, please do mention this on your application.
Here's what the team will be looking for
This position is open to female applicants only, in accordance with Section 7(2)(b)(e) of the Sex Discrimination Act 1975, due to the nature of the role supporting women and children affected by domestic abuse. The ideal candidate will have experience promoting service user involvement and working within multi-agency environments, alongside the ability to use computer systems effectively for recording client and service information.
Key skills and knowledge required include strong staff management capabilities, in-depth understanding of the impact of domestic abuse on women and children, and familiarity with relevant legislation, housing law, welfare benefits, and legal remedies for domestic violence survivors. The role demands sound safeguarding knowledge, excellent communication skills, and the ability to handle complex tasks within tight timeframes. A flexible approach is also necessary, including participation in the out-of-hours emergency on-call rota.
