Pain Nurse B6
Royal Surrey NHS Foundation Trust
Date: 3 days ago
City: Guildford
Contract type: Full time

We are seeking an enthusiastic and highly-motivated nurse with a passion for pain management to join our Pain Team. This would be an ideal role for an experienced band 5 nurse with the skills to develop to band 6 level. The role will initially focus on inpatient services, providing clinical care, service development and education.
Working within our multi-disciplinary team, you will have the opportunity to develop clinical skills; taking responsibility for your own caseload, advising medical and surgical teams about pain management and acting as an advocate for patients and their carers. Your development will be supported by our team of band 7 Clinical Nurse Specialists and Band 8 Lead Pain Nurse.
You will also assist in the development of Pain Service; act as a role model and mentor; and develop and deliver training within the Trust. The post offers a fantastic opportunity to develop the knowledge, skills and experience necessary to progress your career in pain management.
Candidates for this post will ideally have at least two years’ post qualification experience, preferably in a post-surgical environment.
You will need to demonstrate excellent clinical knowledge and skills and have a genuine passion for helping patients effectively manage their pain.
We are looking for someone with the communication and organisational skills needed to practice autonomously as well as in a team. Experience in teaching as well as guideline, protocol and clinical audit process development would be a significant advantage.
Above all, we are looking for someone who has the commitment, professionalism and dedication to make a difference to our patients.
The post holder will work within a multidisciplinary team in pain management managing patients with acute, chronic and complex pain conditions to ensure that patients receive the highest standard of clinical care. They will demonstrate a developing level of knowledge and expertise within the speciality and provide education, advice and support to other health care professionals and patients and relatives with the support from the multidisciplinary team. The post holder will act as a role model and mentor for students and other members within the wider Trust.
The post holder will be responsible for contributing to the on-going development of clinical practice, audit and research and standards of care within the service in collaboration with multidisciplinary colleagues.
Royal Surrey is a compassionate and collaborative acute and community Trust. Recognising that our 5000 colleagues are our greatest strength, we offer a comprehensive health and wellbeing program along with a commitment to developing and advancing your career. Our diverse and welcoming Royal Surrey family will ensure you that you feel valued from your initial interview through your entire tenure.
We are clinically led and provide joined up care by bridging the gap between hospital and community services alongside regional specialist cancer care. Our main acute hospital site is in Guildford with community hospital sites at Milford, Haslemere and Cranleigh. We provide adult community health services in homes across Guildford and Waverley.
We have received an overall Good rating from the CQC with Medical care (including older peoples care), End of Life Care and Maternity services being deemed Outstanding by the CQC.
Royal Surrey has a strong reputation and history to build on. We are proud of our achievements and we are investing in our colleagues through our commitment to supporting professional development as well as investing more than £45 million in our physical environment and new equipment in the next few years. There has never been a better time to join us.
Although it isn't the Trusts normal practice, adverts may close early, so you are encouraged to submit an application as soon as possible.
