The role

The successful individual will design, implement and support business-critical Operational Technology telecoms systems necessary to monitor and control the plant and safety systems used in the SSE Distribution Control Centre.

You will

  • Produce standards, specifications and target architectures.
  • Make custom tools to aid in the design & delivery of those standards & architectures.
  • Take business requirements or objectives and make these into practical telecoms deliverables.
  • Provide SME guidance on all aspects of telecoms infrastructure including radio, fibre, SDH & data networks.

You have

  • Strong knowledge and experience of the operation and design of data networks.
  • Proven experience of planning and deploying data networks.
  • Have demonstrable planning and implementation knowledge of data network technologies including IP, ethernet and wireless.
  • Have an understanding of telecommunication infrastructure technologies including fibreoptic cabling, SDH/PDH multiplexers, microwave radio and ancillary equipment (space and power).
  • Have an understanding of SCADA networks and the application of data networking within these.
