Provide support to manage the Oil Management Unit as a “stand alone” business entity; to provide a safe working environment and ensure effective delivery of OMU to Operations and Unlicensed Customers ensuring continuous improvement in productivity and customer service to meet key business priorities/objectives and to grow / drive the business forward.
What You'll Be Doing
- Create a safety culture and develop assurance of procedural compliance and national consistency – Carry out safety audits / site inspections.
- Ensure planning & delivery of operational tasks, to time and budget for zones ensuring year-on-year improvement in productivity and utilisation.
- Lead contact for all unlicensed work.
- Monitor, review and progress contracts for unlicensed customers.
- Reporting on performance of the OMU. Review against OMU objectives with ES Management Team.
- Ensure delivery of complex projects (i.e. new oil fills, reclamations), detailed project plans (including technical reports to ENI) and reports, including risks and issues register.
- Ensure jobs are prepared before handover to Mobile Technician.
- Set and monitor performance objectives for OMU staff.
- Ensure all QA, Safety and environmental procedures and document audits are planned and carried out in a timely manner.
- Set responsibilities for setting to work through Mobile Technician and Operators.
- Ensure OMU compliance with all operator’s licence conditions (HGV Ops).
- Support the implementation of performance excellence throughout the Oil Management Unit.
- Lead role for deployment of flood defence, RF and mobile generators, ensure all associated equipment meets required operational standards.
- Responsible for OMU in house training packages and training courses.
- Enact D.O.A for the Manager when needed.
- Sound understanding of substations and HV equipment. Demonstration of experience in managing statutory and environmental obligations.
- Technical knowledge relating to the electrical and safety aspects of substation plant and equipment.
- In depth knowledge of insulating oil, PCB’s and their transportation together with their associated working practices, procedures and legislation.
- Environmental knowledge in respect of day-to-day duties, together with proven ability to respond to emergency situations.
- Sound understanding of National Grid’s operational policies, procedures and processes.
- Planning or other non-field based experience preferred.
- Project delivery experience.
- Possess an understanding of the company’s performance management process.
- NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent qualification
- Minimum HNC or equivalent in an engineering discipline, preferably electrical engineering
- Full driving licence
- Level 4 Certificate of Technical Competence - Waste Management Operations (Managing Treatment of Hazardous Waste)
- Certificate in Management Studies, would be of advantage
