Job Description

The Service & Team:

The small, friendly, Physical and Medical Needs Team currently comprises a Lead Advisor and two Advisors. We work in partnership with schools and settings throughout the county to support children and young people aged 0-25 along with their families. We also work closely with colleagues from various disciplines, such as the NHS and Social Care.

We are part of the SEND Support Services and are involved in delivering training on broader SEND issues such as EHCP Needs Assessments and The Graduated Response. We are also involved with system issues such as quality assurance and post-inspection work.

We value CPD for our team members and work closely together to keep our skills up-to-date and relevant.


The Role

This is a new, exciting and innovative role which will change and develop over time! Working with schools and settings across the county, the role holder will be pro-active in encouraging positive and supportive strategies and policies around children and young peoples' sensory processing challenges. High quality, accessible, advice, training and guidance will be developed and provided in partnership with schools and settings.

The establishment and development of positive partnership working will be a key element of the role. Close working relationships will be developed with colleagues in the Statutory SEN Team where advice may be needed around SEN Tribunals and the content of Education, Health and Care Plans.

This is a public/customer-facing role, where the statutory English language requirement for public sector workers applies.

This position will be subject to a enhanced criminal record disclosure check.


Working Pattern

The role is 1.0FTE (37 hours per week)


What You’ll Need To Succeed

You will be a qualified Occupational Therapist with at least two years experience. An interest in/experience of working with learners with sensory processing needs will support the role.

You will be enthusiastic and passionate about supporting learners with SEND with children and young people at the centre of all you do!
