Position:
We are looking for Nurses to join our Nurse bank team (as self-employed contractors) working in Ramsgate, Kent.
Previous experience working with detained individuals in a security setting would be an advantage.
As a Nurse working in a Residential Holding Room (RHR), your primary responsibility will be to evaluate individuals’ fitness for detention, promptly escalate concerns, and implement tailored safeguards and care plans to ensure their safety and well-being while supporting continuity of care.
You will autonomously conduct fitness to detain assessments (Rule 30, Rule 31, and Rule 32 assessments) in strict adherence to the service specification and IPRS Aeromed policies and procedures.
You will collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team, including security team and key stakeholders, particularly in cases involving Rule 32 concerns.
Utilising the IPRS Aeromed Patient Group Direction Suite, you will address non-urgent medical needs with the appropriate medications and treatments. You will vigilantly monitor for signs of deterioration, adhering to established protocols to escalate cases as necessary, ensuring individuals receive timely and appropriate care during their time in the RHR.
Duties include:
> Autonomously conduct Rule 30, 31 and 32 assessments.
> Create Care Plans for Rule 32 refusals.
> Ensure the health and well-being of residents, including identifying any medical concerns and making necessary referrals.
> Actively promote the wellbeing of residents through regular medication as prescribed.
> Attend and represent IPRS Aeromed at Multidisciplinary Board (MDB) meetings for Rule 32 concerns.
> Assess and treat minor illness and injuries within the scope of the service provision and PGD’s.
> Confidently advocate for resident’s when required.
> Provide clinical support in the clinic room when the RHR is empty.
> Support the audit process, e.g. Clinical Report Forms (CRF’s), Medications and consumables
> Ensure residents are seen promptly to ensure compliance with key performance indicators (KPI’s).
> Work closely with security teams to ensure safety of staff and residents is maintained.
> Provide comprehensive clinical handovers using the SBAR tool.
> Produce accurate medical notes primarily to ensure the provision of ongoing care but also for clinical audit purposes.
> Ensure your kit and drugs are in date, complete and are satisfactory prior to commencement of your duties.
Requirements:
Qualifications, Training & Experience:
Adult Nursing BSc or equivalent NMC recognised qualification
Registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) – with no investigations/suspensions current or pending.
Able to demonstrate Continuing Professional Development
Experience & Knowledge:
Band 6 Nursing Experience, or above (E)
Minimum 5 years post qualification as a Nurse (E)
Previous experience working with detained individuals (D)
Previous experience working in a security setting (D)
Full Driving licence and own transport (E)
Smart, professional appearance and conduct (E)
Skills and Abilities:
Ability to work actively within a team, but to work without supervision whenever necessary.
Ability to identify and correct signs and symptoms of a deteriorating patient.
Clear and concise communication skills, in particular when interacting with patients
Attention to detail and the ability to record information accurately.
Ability to make appropriate and informed decisions quickly.
Ability to remain calm and professional if an individual becomes disruptive/aggressive
Other information:
Hourly pay rate up to £31.50 per hour
