As a Night/Cleaning porter at Sodexo in Woodbank Hotel, Aberdeen AB159PN, your position will be to maintain the integrity of Woodbank hotel, providing front-line security at night by ensuring all guests are properly admitted and are safe. To manage incoming telephone calls to the Reception. To provide security checks overnight and during closure periods. To carry out hygiene tasks as required. To set up conference rooms for the business the following day as required.

As a Night/Cleaning porter at Sodexo in Woodbank Hotel, Aberdeen AB159PN, your position will be to maintain the integrity of Woodbank hotel, providing front-line security at night by ensuring all guests are properly admitted and are safe. To manage incoming telephone calls to the Reception. To provide security checks overnight and during closure periods. To carry out hygiene tasks as required. To set up conference rooms for the business the following day as required.
What You’ll Do
- To meet and greet all Woodbank users ensuring they are validated in accordance with current Shell security and Licensing Law procedures including registration of visitors, subcontractors, etc
- To carry out hygiene tasks as required during the night shift to maintain a high standard of cleanliness at all times in areas as specified in the daily checklist and requested by Line Manager
- Maintain levels of quality, cleanliness, food safety and hygiene in line with company SEMS, Safeguard and local authority regulations i.e. EHO, HSE. Complete any assigned training.
- To manage the set up and preparation of any meeting room space overnight as required.
- To register hotel guests and provide them with guidance on the facilities and services.
- To check in and out hotel guests and complete any billing processes if required.
- To prepare reports, check out information, guest information and any other required documents.
- To respond in a timely and courteous manner to all incoming telephone calls, directing customers and queries as appropriate if required
- To act as Emergency Coordinator in the event of any emergency exercise or actual event during shift if Required
- To ensure that all maintenance/FM service requests are properly recorded and escalated.
- Ownership of the Reception and associated front of house area (Study and Conservatory) environment ensuring it is properly equipped, furnished and maintained at all times if Required.
- Act at all times in accordance with Shell and Sodexo policies and procedures.
- Ensure compliance with Shell and Sodexo specific requirements e.g. Code of Conduct, Conflict of Interest.
- To ensure you meet Sodexo and Shell’s legal regulations on health and safety, food safety, hygiene and the environment.
- Embrace and grow a ‘zero accidents culture’ by ensuring the accurate reporting of near misses and accidents as well as reporting any equipment defects to your line manager in line with company procedure
- Ensure all company documents are completed with integrity and that due diligence is practiced at all time.
- Continue to develop one’s own skills and knowledge within the position
- First Aider responsibility for the duration of the night shift if Required- Training Provided by employer
- To liaise with Shell Security and advise of any incidents or suspicious activity.
- Any other reasonable request as directed by the management
- Computer literate
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbally and can demonstrate experience of working with previous customers or clients
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively with customers, clients, and staff at all levels
- Good time management and organizational skills
- Ability to work well under pressure managing multiple workloads
- Ability to achieve and set standards and operate to performance criteria, with particular regard to hotel operations
- Knowledge of Health and Safety and Food Safety
- Able to demonstrate attention to detail and adherence to standards
- Positive approach to learning in role and identifying own training needs as appropriate
- Self-motivated with a sense of own initiative
- Flexible approach to role – requires night shifts and cover of annual leave and sickness for the other night porter
