Devonport Naval Base is the largest Naval Base in Europe. It is a 650 acre site with 15,000 acres of waterspace, employing 12,000 people on site. The Base is primarily focused on delivering timely deep maintenance to the UK’s submarine fleet. It is also the operating homebase for frigates, amphibious Ships, Royal Marines. Job Description
Primary Purpose
To support the ICT Manager to implement an IT Asset Management Strategy, in line with organisational objectives and policies.
Manage the entire lifecycle of IT assets, including acquisition, inventory management, deployment, maintenance, and disposal. Assets include, but not limited to, laptops, desktops, printers, scanners, copiers, monitors, and peripherals.
Establish and maintain a centralised database to track and monitor IT assets, ensuring accurate and up to date information on asset inventory, location, ownership, and status.
Conduct regular audits and assessments of IT assets, to identify potential risks, gaps or inefficiencies and propose corrective actions or improvements.
Support the ICT Manager in delivering technical refresh programmes to Site, conducting validation activities and maintaining updated database for Defence Digital.
IT Security Officer (ITSO) and deputy USO for the Directorate, conducting regular security spot checks, adhering to ITSO TORs.
Responsibilities
Collaborate with relevant stakeholders, such as Navy Digital, Defence Digital Customer Manager, and finance teams to ensure compliance with processes, budgetary considerations and policy for IT asset acquisition, management, and disposal.
Develop and maintain standardised procedures and documentation for IT asset management processes including tracking, software licencing and maintenance schedules.
Stay updated on emerging technologies and refresh programmes to be delivered by MOD.
Management of peripheral loans, including disks, memory sticks and card readers, undertaking audits and musters as required.
MODNET Laptop Management for NBC(D) and other directly supported units, by issuing & receiving Laptops, updating Laptops’ ownership records on REMEDY database, preparing Laptops for issue, monitoring stock levels of available Laptops.
Order new or replacement Laptops, IT peripherals via Defence Digital IT Service Catalogue.
Raise Navy Digital Front Door requests for new IT requirements within NBC Devonport.
Assist staff with ongoing Laptop issues, if required. Arrange for replacement of defective Laptops with supply contractor. Swap defective Laptops for new units, when available.
Provision of local IT Change Control support services by acting as MODNET AD for NBC(D).
Provide basic support and advice on the availability & use of MODNET System services, applications and hardware.
Ensure compliance with MOD policy for accreditation requirements for outsourced, standalone assets.
Raise Security Incident Report forms (SIRF) for any security breaches identified with improper use of IT assets.

Person specification
The post holder will have excellent communication skills and a willingness to learn.
We are looking for a diplomatic team player who can establish positive relationships and work collaboratively with stakeholders across the organisation and at all levels.
They must have strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build collaborative relationships, as well as the ability to listen and interact confidently with others.
Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite including Outlook, Word, SharePoint, MS Teams, Excel and PowerPoint.
A knowledge of managing IT assets would be beneficial but not essential
