We are looking for a National Account Manager to join our prestigious Sales team here at our Water and Waste Services division of Franchise Brands.
Metro Rod and Metro Plumb, part of Franchise Brands PLC, are leaders in providing comprehensive water and waste management services across the UK. Metro Rod, founded in 1983, offers drain clearance and maintenance through over 40 franchisees, serving major companies like Tesco, Mitie, Clarion, Axa, and Wetherspoons in sectors such as FM, social housing, property management, retail, industrial, and leisure.
With over 40 years in the industry, Metro Rod remains a fast-growing and dynamic business. Its sister company, Metro Plumb, operates more than 30 local depots, addressing a range of plumbing issues from emergency repairs to routine maintenance. Together, they offer a one-stop shop, supported by a network of over 600 engineers specialising in drainage, plumbing, pumps, and FOG management. Additionally, Franchise Brands’ Waste & Water Services Division includes Willow Pumps and Filta, enhancing their comprehensive service offering. Major companies trust these brands for their consistent quality service and customer satisfaction, making them a trusted name in the industry.
What does it entail?
The successful individual will bring additional resource to the sales team to help us continue on our growth trajectory and you will be predominantly responsible for bringing on new business whilst also growing a small number of current accounts.
We provide emergency and planned drainage and plumbing through our national franchised network incorporating pumps, sewage treatment plants, asset mapping, tankering services and we are expanding our plumbing services into gas and renewables.
Whilst this role will be predominantly remotely based, you will need to be located within reach of our Macclesfield Support Centre. You will be expected to commute to the Support Centre one to two days per week, in order for you to establish your reputation and relationships with key Stakeholders. You will attend expos and shows and represent our business at customer sites and meet with franchisees and our Business Development Managers in the field.
You will be expected to contribute to the team’s efforts of 20% annual business growth, whilst at the same time have the relationship skills to onboard new customers and manage their expectations whilst delivery a first class customer experience

What do we look for?
- Proven experience within business development
- Experience within the plumbing/drainage industry is ideal, as is experience selling to Franchises/Distributers/Social Housing to demonstrate your understanding of the differences and challenges of selling in this environment
- Have demonstrable experience working with customers to increase market share and introducing new services
- Be energetic, tenacious and positive in outlook
- Have some technical, project management or engineering experience that demonstrates transferable skills in understanding our technical services and how they are delivered
- Be up-to-date with social media LinkedIn trends and best practices
