The Countess of Chester are looking for a dynamic, highly motivated, Named Nurse for Safeguarding Children and for Children in Care, to join their integrated adult and children's Safeguarding and Complex Care team. As a senior practitioner, you will have a key role in shaping our safeguarding children agenda and work closely with the wider integrated specialist team to ensure appropriate quality assurance mechanisms are in place for children and young people at risk.
You will provide highly specialist advice and clinical support to staff employed by the Trust, ensuring there is appropriate assessment, planning and implementation for children and their families where safeguarding children issues have been identified.
The post holder will be responsible for providing leadership and management to the Countess of Chester Hospital Safeguarding Children’s Team as well as having oversight of the safeguarding children cases for the organisation. They will also be required to work closely with local external partner agencies to meet the needs of the children and their families. Your working hours would be based on a working week pattern of Monday to Friday 8:30-4:30 with flexibility to meet the needs of the service.
Provide advice and guidance for clinical teams throughout the Trust on effective assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of patient care according to changing health care needs, paying particular attention to the safeguarding children agenda as well as working closely with other safeguarding named professionals.
To promote good practice and effective communication, within the organisation and also with external stakeholders on all matters relating to safeguarding children.
To promote and ensure that safeguarding children and the management of children in care is an integral part of the Trust business and that key staff are aware of the thresholds for triggering safeguarding children referrals and an assessment of risk.
To provide expert advice and leadership across the organisation - acute and community and to ensure that the safeguarding principles are embedded within care delivery across the organisation.
The successful candidate will lead the Trust achievement of standards for Safeguarding Children, including those standards that cover staff performance, safeguarding supervision, training, practice development and ensuring staff are competent across the organisation.
The Countess of Chester Hospital NHS Foundation Trust provides services to West Cheshire and to Welsh patients covered by Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board. The Trust works collaboratively within the wider Cheshire and Merseyside Health and Care Partnership. Its services are provided from three locations:
The Trust is a busy district general hospital and in 2022/2023, there were more than 503,342 patient attendances (inpatient, outpatient and diagnostic) ranging from a simple outpatient appointment to major cancer surgery. This is an increase of nearly 10,000 compared to the previous year when there were 494,387 patient attendances.
