Now we’re looking for a Multimedia Journalist to join our Ireland team, based in Belfast, covering stories right across the island of Ireland, with a focus on Northern Ireland.

The role.

This is a fast-paced and varied role for a reporter who lives and breathes news. You’ll cover everything from major breaking stories and politics to the moments that get people talking.

We’re looking for a journalist who can spot a great story, file accurate, engaging copy at speed and isn’t afraid to pick up a camera or phone when visuals could enhance their reporting.

You’ll work closely with colleagues in Belfast, Dublin and London to deliver top-quality journalism that reaches audiences across print, broadcast and digital platforms.

What you will be doing.

• Report on breaking news, politics, courts, and human-interest stories across the island of Ireland.
• File clean,accurate and legally sound copy on tight deadlines.
• Find and develop original stories that make an impact.
• Use social media to source, verify and promote content.
• Capture video footage or still images to support your reporting (training provided if needed).
• Collaborate with editors and colleagues across the PA newsroom to ensure first-class coverage.

What you’ll need.

• A recognised journalism qualification.
• Proven newsroom experience, ideally including court reporting.
• Excellent writing,shorthand and editorial judgement.
• A strong understanding of media law and public affairs across Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland.
• Flexibility to work across a rolling news cycle, including some evenings and weekends.
• A full clean driving licence and access to a vehicle during the day.
• It would also be an advantage to have confidence in shooting video or taking photographs, however,enthusiasm to develop these skills is more important than current technical expertise.
