Merchant Engagement Ambassador

(Scotland Loves Local Gift Card)

Location: Home-based with frequent travel across Scotland (in field at least 3 days per week)
Contract: 12-month fixed term (with view to permanent)
Benefits: 33 days holiday (incl. bank holidays), pension contributions, Vitality health insurance, flexible working, incentive scheme

About Us

At Miconex, we're on a mission to strengthen local economies and communities. Through our award-winning Scotland Loves Local Gift Card, we help people shop local, support independent businesses, and keep money circulating in towns and cities across Scotland.

We're growing fast - and we're looking for a passionate, people-focused Merchant Engagement Ambassador to join our team.

Denholm Associates have been engaged as our recruitment partner for this role.

The Role

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone starting out in their sales, marketing, or customer engagement career. You won't be "selling" in the traditional sense - instead, your focus will be on building relationships with local businesses, helping them get the most out of the Scotland Loves Local Gift Card, and promoting the benefits of being part of the programme.

Expect plenty of variety: one day you might be visiting high street shops and cafés, the next attending local events, posting engaging content on social media, or providing friendly support to merchants by phone.

Your goal? To make sure more businesses - and their customers - understand, use, and love the Scotland Loves Local Gift Card.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Acting as a visible ambassador for the Gift Card - online, in-store, and at local events.
  • Visiting merchants across Scotland to build strong relationships and help them showcase the programme.
  • Supporting businesses with training, in-store promotions, and marketing materials.
  • Attending events, forums, and networking opportunities to spread the word.
  • Creating social media content that inspires people and organisations to get involved.
  • Sharing insights and success stories to help make the programme even stronger.

About You

We're looking for someone who is:

  • A great communicator - confident, approachable, and able to inspire others.
  • Social media savvy, with a creative flair for sharing stories online.
  • Organised, proactive, and comfortable working independently.
  • Passionate about supporting local communities and small businesses.
  • Keen to build a career in sales, marketing, or customer engagement.
  • Happy to travel across Scotland - a car and driving licence are essential.

Why You'll Love It

  • You'll make a real difference - helping local businesses thrive and communities grow.
  • Flexible mix of home-based work and field visits (no two weeks are the same).
  • A supportive team that values your input and offers room to develop your career.
  • A role that combines sales, marketing, customer experience, and community engagement - perfect for building your skills and future opportunities.

Ready to kickstart your career while supporting Scotland's local businesses?
Apply today via Denholm Associates - our exclusive recruitment partner for this role - and help us spread the word: Scotland Loves Local.
