As a Merchandiser within our Product Merchandising team, you’ll work collaboratively with other teams to deliver a balanced, commercial and profitable range in line with Seasalt’s brand vision, strengthening our market position and proposing new opportunities.

You’ll manage the product trading requirements to maintain the appropriate levels of stock in the department and categories, whilst maximising product margin. Collaborating across teams, you’ll ensure analysis and information is in place to guide current and future range content.

Please note, as part of our Seasalt Connected approach to ways of working, this role will be based flexibly across our Cornwall Head Offices (minimum 40% of working week) and remotely within the UK.

You’ll Help Us By

Working with the Head of Merchandising and Merchandise Manager to ensure seasonal and departmental budgets/forecasts are thought through by channel (retail, online, and partners) and analysed in context of historical sales and seasons to be fully traded. Working with Buying and Design, you’ll ensure that product reviews are held with department heads at the appropriate time for product sign-off, while working together to plan bestselling product blocks and bestselling styles, ensuring an appropriate level of newness in range builds and that product attributes are being analysed during the range build process.

Attending trade meetings, you’ll present product trade performance summaries on a weekly basis to keep all functions aware of trading strengths and weakness and likely actions. You’ll ensure current product/category/department trading opportunities or challenges are being reflected in future season range builds and existing signed off ranges. Working with Channel Merchandising, you’ll prepare and present lessons learnt for each launch and phase, proposing and implementing actions for future launches and seasons.

You’ll communicate the business strategic priorities and translate into measurable goals and targets for the Merchandising teams.

You’ll develop the skills of the Merchandising teams and identify individual training needs, as well as encouraging effective teamwork, motivating the teams and giving recognition and praise when appropriate.

The Skills You’ll Be Sharing With The Team

  • Previous experience in a Merchandiser or Junior Merchandiser role with experience in planning product.
  • Experience of range building, planning and trading.
  • Experience of leading a team would be advantageous.
  • Highly analytical and commercially aware, with a strong understanding of competitors.
  • Experience of motivating individuals or a team to achieve results.
  • Strong planning and strategy development skills.
  • Good IT skills.
  • Ability to analyse data and produce reports.
  • Strong commercial aptitude and customer focus.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to influence.
  • Good problem-solving skills, able to overcome issues, propose solutions and make commercial decisions.
  • Ability to perform under pressure and work towards deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
