This is an exciting new post for a Learning Disability Nurse/ Mental Health Nurse or Allied Health Professional. The post holder will provide therapeutic interventions to Children and Young People with LD, autism or both (age 5-17 years), who present with behaviours that challenge and mental health conditions, in a dynamic and systemic way. There is opportunity to gain a PBS qualification. We welcome applications from professionals who have experience in either child or adult services. CWP hosts CANDDID , the Centre for Autism Neurodevelopmental disorders and Intellectual Disabilities, which carries out research education and training, and holds an annual international conference.

The Cheshire Intensive Support Function will work flexibly across the LD-CAMHS and CAMHS teams extending and enhancing the existing provision to be able to take on an intensive support function, allowing the wider resource to be accessed pro-actively at times of escalating need. There will be particular focus on supporting the fostering of skills and culture of working proactively with Children and Young People with autism especially in mainstream CAMHS, this aligns with the autism clinical priority in the NHS Long Term Plan.

The successful applicant will be responsible for enhancing the support that is already provided by involved services, with the key aims being contribution to identification and management of risk, multiagency planning, training and psychoeducation, as well as delivering highly specialist assessment and intervention, including development of PBS plans. The post holder will also be responsible for the supervision of junior team members.

The post holder will also play a key role in promoting and supporting colleagues with understanding and adopting the values and principles of PBS.

Regular access to support and training opportunities will be provided, as well as the opportunity to work towards a PBS qualification.

CWP provides health and care services for local people, including mental health, learning disability, community physical health and all-age disability care – including the provision of three GP surgeries.
