Job Title: Mechanical Quality Inspector

Location: Witham, Essex. CM8 3UJ.

Salary: Starting from £17.00 per hour

Join our dynamic team as a Mechanical Quality Inspector, playing a vital role in ensuring our precision engineering operations meet the highest quality standards. This position offers an opportunity to work in a cutting-edge manufacturing environment, conducting component inspections and contributing to continuous improvement across the shop floor.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct detailed inspections of components, including first-off, in-process, and final inspections following company procedures (QMWI, SOP, and APQP).
  • Operate and program Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMMs) and other inspection tools to ensure precision in part measurements.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to perform random checks, addressing any deviations promptly.
  • Ensure compliance with Quality Management and industry standards through audits and by monitoring adherence to protocols.
  • Produce and maintain detailed reports, including FAIR, PPAP, and ISIR, documenting any deviations and corrective actions.
  • Provide mentoring and support to colleagues to uphold quality standards throughout production.
  • Assist with incoming parts inspection and goods-inward processes as needed.

Compliance & Quality Reporting

  • Monitor strict compliance with processes, ensuring parts are produced according to engineering drawings.
  • File accurate CMM reports, supplier conformity paperwork, and other necessary documentation.
  • Participate in Root Cause and Corrective Action (RCCA) meetings to address quality issues and propose improvements.
  • Support the calibration of gauges and tools, ensuring compliance with industry standards.

Qualifications

  • Proficient in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) and able to interpret engineering drawings.
  • Experience with CMM programming and inspection processes.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and experience in quality reporting (FAIR, PPAP).
  • Ability to work with and support machinists in adhering to quality standards.
  • Experience in Pedimos CMM would be an advantage
