About the Role
Mechanical Engineer Graduate Programme
Looking to launch your engineering career with purpose? At EDF, Success is Personal. That means your journey is yours to shape – and we’re here to support you every step of the way. Join our Science and Engineering Graduate Programme and you’ll gain the skills, experience and confidence to build a career that’s uniquely yours – all while helping Britain achieve net zero.
“The programme has been a steep learning curve and provided many great challenges and learning opportunities along the way. Whenever I had questions or needed help with my understanding, I have felt comfortable asking any of my more experienced colleagues, who have always been more than happy to spend time helping and coaching me.” – Henry, Mechanical Engineer
The Opportunity
Alongside earning a salary of £37,500 per annum, you’ll work towards professional registration with institutions such as the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE), Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET), and others – fully supported by us.
Over the course of this 16-month programme, you’ll rotate through a variety of placements across our nuclear business. You’ll gain hands-on experience, develop technical and professional skills, and contribute to real-world projects – from turbine overhauls to reactor core modelling.
You’ll help shape the future of clean energy in the UK, working on projects that matter and building a career with real impact.

As a Mechanical Engineering Graduate at EDF, you’ll gain hands-on experience, develop technical and professional skills, and contribute to meaningful projects that support the UK’s journey to net zero
You’ll be based at one of our key sites – #Gloucester, #Bristol, #Bridgwater, #Hartlepool or #Sizewell – with the flexibility to rotate across locations depending on your placements. You’ll also need strong communication and problem-solving skills, and a genuine interest in nuclear energy and technology.
Security Vetting
To be appointed to this role, you will need to meet the criteria for Security Vetting, which will, ordinarily, require you to have been a resident of the UK for at least three of the past five years.
