We are seeking a capable, amenable and self-motivated mechanical design engineer to join our team and drive our current and future aircraft programmes forward.

Key Qualifications

  • BSc/BEng in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering (or HNC/HDC with equivalent experience)
  • 5+ years of relevant mechanical design experience (aerospace, composites or F1)
  • Proficient in modelling parts and assemblies in 3D CAD (ideally, but not essential CREO, training provided)
  • Proficient in producing detailed manufacturing drawings.
  • Experience with a PLM system (ideally Windchill, training provided)
  • Experience in aerospace design a major advantage

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will work within the design team being responsible for the development, optimisation and detailing of the aircraft mechanical design, involving:

  • Working with the HX50 Chief Engineer and technical specialists to develop mechanical design schemes and detailed designs of aircraft parts and assemblies.
  • Develop mechanical and structural components.
  • Develop cast, fabricated and machined parts and assemblies.
  • Develop schemes for mechanical parts, assemblies and installations supported by relevant technical specialists.
  • Verify assembly processes.
  • Develop schemes for controlling tolerance stacks and critical fits and clearances.
  • Creating high quality 3D CAD models of engine parts and assemblies.
  • Working closely with the production team to ensure parts and assemblies are robustly optimised for efficient manufacture.
  • Creating high quality technical drawings and documentation.
  • Working strictly to agreed deadlines.
  • Management of design and airworthiness requirements.
  • Working closely with technical specialists to rapidly optimise the design.
