The role

We are seeking a highly detail-oriented and innovative Materials Process Engineer to join our dynamic team. This role will focus on application of engineering materials and manufacturing processes that meet automotive industry standards. The successful candidate will ensure the effective integration of materials into automotive components and contribute to advancing manufacturing efficiency, product quality, and sustainability.


Duties/Responsibilities

    • Research, evaluate, and select materials that meet performance, cost, and sustainability criteria for various motorcycle applications.
    • Collaborate with design engineers to select materials based on their mechanical, thermal, and electrical properties.
    • Work with production teams to troubleshoot material-related issues and recommend solutions to improve the manufacturing workflow.
    • Design, develop, and refine materials and manufacturing processes for automotive applications.
    • Continuously evaluate and optimize existing manufacturing processes to enhance productivity, reduce costs, and meet customer specification
    • Act as the material and standards signatory for drawing approvals, ensuring that material, heat treatment & surface treatement specifications are accurate and aligned with industry standards and design requirements.
    • Serve as the material signatory for vehicle deviation approvals, ensuring any changes to materials or processes are in compliance with company and industry standards.
    • Manage and ensure adherence to internal and external standards, including TVS, Norton, and group-specific standards, throughout the materials and manufacturing processes.
    • Regularly review and update the standards documentation to reflect changes in industry regulations and best practices.
    • Maintain and update the materials database, ensuring accurate and up-to-date information regarding material properties, sourcing, and performance data.
    • Ensure the materials database is accessible to relevant teams and stakeholders for efficient decision-making.
    • Contribute to the maintenance and improvement of the Engineering Quality Management System (QMS), ensuring materials and processes meet established quality standards.
    • Conduct audits and participate in corrective actions related to material quality and process improvements.
    • Ensure that all materials and processes comply with industry standards and regulatory requirements (ex. REACH)
    • Coordinate testing and validation of materials and processes to ensure durability, safety, and compliance with quality standards.
    • Collaborate with quality control teams to conduct failure analysis and material performance assessments.


Personal Specification

    • Bachelor’s degree in Materials Science, Process Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field
    • 3+ years of experience in materials engineering, process optimization, or manufacturing within the automotive or related industries.
    • Proven experience with materials selection, process design, and engineering quality management systems for automotive applications.
    • Familiarity with CREO and Windchill systems and vehicle deviation processes.
    • Strong understanding of manufacturing materials, including metals, polymers, composites, and coatings.
    • Familiarity with industry standards such as ISO 9001, IATF 16949, and ASTM testing methods.
    • Strong collaboration and communication abilities across multidisciplinary teams.
    • Self-driven and capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
