Salary: £75,000 - £95,000 per year
Contract type: Full time

We build experienced, dynamic, and fractional teams that fit in like puzzle pieces, providing just the right knowledge and energy at the right time. We’re not your typical agency or a one-man show. We're a team of passionate professionals who live and breathe branding and marketing.

With over 100 startup brands under our belt, our team combines strategic thinking with sharp execution. We’ve grown 30 to 50% year on year since 2020 and are now looking for a marketing leader to help drive the quality, pace and impact of our work to the next level.

There are currently more than 20 in the team, structured into a Growth Pod, a Brand Pod and a Social Pod.

Brand Hackers is part of Up Collective, alongside Up World (a community and curated learning platform for entrepreneurial marketers) and Up Talent (marketing-focused recruitment). We operate as one business internally.

The Role

We’re looking for a senior marketing leader to shape the quality of our thinking, lead our team and bring clarity to complex challenges. You’ll be responsible for ensuring the standard of all marketing strategy across Brand Hackers is exceptional, and that our team are continually learning, stretching to change the trajectory of the brands we work with.

You’ll be nurturing a big & growing team of ambitious marketers who look to you for guidance, energy and clarity, being hands on with our highest priority projects and building the reputation of the business in the industry.

We currently have a Head of Marketing in role doing this job but Chessie is reducing her working hours to 2x days a week and this job is getting bigger, not smaller! Chessie will be focusing on supporting the Marketing Director’s onboarding and then moving on to focus on special projects.

The role will have 3-5 direct reports, with ultimate responsibility for the full Brand Hackers team. The role will report into Lottie, Founder, when she is back from maternity leave and will be looked after by Chessie in the interim.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor the Brand Hackers team, helping everyone from juniors to experienced marketers raise their game
  • Own the quality of strategic output across Brand Hackers, setting the tone for what impactful brand hacking means
  • Build a culture of high standards and fast feedback, where work gets better every week
  • Get involved in complex or high-stakes projects and steer the team where needed, doing whatever it takes to ensure the output is brilliant
  • Strengthen our relationships with the brands we support, with senior counsel, by building trust and unlocking additional opportunities
  • Be a key voice in the leadership team, helping shape Brand Hackers’ evolution
  • Represent Brand Hackers in the industry with thought leadership, events and content

About You

You’ll thrive in this role if you’re very hungry for what’s next in your career and want a professional adventure.

  • Have driven strong B2C marketing results in startups and scaleups, whether in-house or agency-side (we are exacting on the kinds of brands and experience you have as we need total confidence you’ll nail any brief you’d be likely to get)
  • Be a generalist commercial marketer - this role will oversee growth marketing, brand and social & we need you to be excellent on all fronts
  • Take leading a team very seriously, with an exceptional track record of mentoring, coaching and building capability
  • Are comfortable giving clear, constructive feedback and setting very high standards for others
  • Bring energy, presence and maturity into a room, and know how to lead both clients and teams
  • Are excited by fast-paced environments, where no two briefs are the same
  • Have agency or consultancy experience and enjoy the variety and speed that comes with it
  • Are building or already have a personal brand, and are excited to use it to support our business
  • Want to be part of a collaborative, smart and values-driven team that punches above its weight
