The Role
This position will report into the Head of Market Risk in London and primarily assist in the day-to-day risk management activities as well as with ad-hoc projects to improve risk processes. The role will also require the person to automate reports and hence having programming skills will be highly beneficial.

The Role
This position will report into the Head of Market Risk in London and primarily assist in the day-to-day risk management activities as well as with ad-hoc projects to improve risk processes. The role will also require the person to automate reports and hence having programming skills will be highly beneficial.
What You’ll Do
- Identify, quantify, monitor, manage report and investigate market and currency risks across ofi’s Business Units (BUs).
- Develop a deep understanding of the assigned businesses, spanning the entire supply chain
- Understanding the existing risk processes, systems and reports being used and taking ownership of all risk reports and other outputs
- Critically assess all existing processes/reports and drive improvements where feasible, in discussion with all other stakeholders including traders.
- Provide analytical support to the risk management group, senior management and traders within the firm including ad-hoc work on risk and performance evaluation
- Effectively communicate emerging risk issues and ensure timely action/escalation.
- A quantitative university degree with a strong analytical/mathematical focus
- 5+ years of experience in a commodity trading environment within an investment bank, trading house or food ingredients company.
- A strong understanding of commodity markets, their price drivers and the associated physical supply chains
- Fluency in the concepts associated with physical trading (e.g. outright, basis, arbitrage and structure), as well as the exposures arising from associated financial instruments (e.g. the “Greeks”)
- A sound understanding of the principles of Value-at-Risk (particularly historical simulation) is a pre-requisite
- Strong analytical and programming capabilities in order to faciliate independent ownership of the design, implementation and continual development of high-quality risk reports that take inputs from multiple stakeholders (e.g. traders, senior management, IT, Finance)
- Experience with agricultural commodities would be advantageous, as well as to (particularly) emerging market currencies.
- Proven ability to work under tight deadlines and manage multiple priorities
- Good communication skills.
- Strong knowledge of Excel and VBA is pre-requisite; Python and SQL very attractive
- Knowledge of data science techniques also attractive
