The Azure Fiber team in Romsey is seeking dynamic candidates with energy and a passion for innovation to join our team. You will be working on fabrication technologies for radically novel optical fibers, including glass preform manufacture, optical fiber drawing and associated processes. The role will involve close interaction with the R&D team to take new fabrication methods for next generation fibers and turn them into robust and reliable processes that can be successfully transferred into volume manufacture by the production team. Additionally, you will be required to support the scaling up and automation of the new fabrication facility to meet customer demand and company ambition. As such, this role involves hands-on work in our state of the art Romsey facility.

Responsibilities
- The role has direct responsibility for the development, transfer and implementation of manufacturing processes for preform and fibre fabrication. Responsibilities include:
- Contributing to the development and management of documentation in support of process technology, operating procedures and process control requirements
- Developing and deploying process control tools and analysing measurement data to identify trends and correlations
- Managing projects to identify novel and improved manufacturing methods
- Having key responsibilities in the development of next-generation products
- Collaborating with equipment suppliers on technology development and process equipment requirements and improvements
- Contributing in first person, and visibly support, the establishment and maintenance of a safe work environment
- Supporting the scale-up of the new fabrication facility in Romsey with a focus on automation and industrialisation
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in manufacturing, material, mechanical, electrical, and industrial engineering, or related field AND experience in a manufacturing environment/repair
- OR Master's Degree in manufacturing, material, mechanical, electrical, and industrial engineering, or related field AND experience in a manufacturing environment /repair
- OR Equivalent experience
- Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:
- Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
