Position Summary
The Manager, Maintenance is responsible for reviewing, updating, and developing the fleet-wide technical maintenance procedures to ensure the overall operational readiness of all ship systems, including mechanical, electrical, and structural components. This role ensures that the cruise ship meets safety standards, operates efficiently, and provides a high-quality experience for guests and crew. The Maintenance Manager will interact with ship staff, ship managers/fleet directors, and technical specialists ensuring that processes and procedures are relevant and up to date.

Position Summary

The Maintenance Manager will interact with ship staff, ship managers/fleet directors, and technical specialists ensuring that processes and procedures are relevant and up to date.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintenance Planning: Develop and implement a suite of comprehensive maintenance processes and procedures for all ship systems, including routine inspections, preventive maintenance, and emergency repairs.
- Safety and Compliance:
- Ensure all maintenance processes and procedures comply with maritime laws, safety regulations, and company policies.
- Conduct regular maintenance audits to improve the performance of our maintenance processes onboard.
- Budget Management:
- Monitor expenditures and identify areas for cost savings without compromising quality.
- Collaboration:
- Liaise with other departments, such as operations, GMT, and guest services, to improve maintenance processes and procedures and minimize disruptions.
- Work closely with external vendors and contractors for specialized maintenance tasks.
- Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and ensure that processes and procedures in AMOS are updated and current.
- Prepare reports for senior management on maintenance performance and compliance issues.
- Continuous Improvement:
- Stay updated on industry trends and best practices in ship maintenance and management.
- Implement innovative solutions to improve efficiency, reliability, and safety.
- Educational Background:
- A background as a Naval Architect or Marine/Mechanical Engineer with a bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field from an accredited college or university, or the international equivalent is preferred.
- Experience:
- Experience as a Chief Engineer or Staff Chief Engineer within a major cruise line is highly desirable.
- Proven experience in marine maintenance management, preferably in the cruise industry.
- Strong knowledge of ship systems, including propulsion, electrical, HVAC, plumbing, and safety equipment.
- Proficient in maintenance management software AMOS and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Financial Management:
- Proven ability to manage the financial aspects of the assigned function, including the successful identification of operating efficiencies.
- Disciplinary Process:
- Proven ability to utilize and administer the disciplinary action process through coaching and counseling to improve performance.
