Position Summary:

We are currently recruiting for a Management Accounts Assistant to join our existing Finance team within our Power & Industrial (P&I) division based in Cramlington, Northumberland. The successful candidate will perform various accounting duties of moderate complexity, including but not limited to data entry, processing vouchers and invoices, compiling segments of monthly closing and annual reports.

Scope for flexible working arrangements, including working from home on occasion, is offered subject to agreement.

Position Responsibilities:

  • To assist in the maintenance of the company’s ledgers and the completion of month end, quarter end and year end through the production of journals, accruals, prepayments, invoices and statement of accounts.
  • To ensure that the company understands its balance sheet by carrying out analysis of its assets and liabilities. This will include presenting monthly reconciliations and explaining their findings.
  • To ensure the effective payment and receipt of intercompany balances and the smooth running of the monthly netting process.
  • To ensure the company meets its J-Sox requirements in regards, to the physical verification of its fixed assets.
  • Administer, maintain and understand the employee expenses system, ensuring its effectiveness as a company tool and optimising its benefits to the company.
  • Administer, maintain and understand of CAPEX Tracker.

Person Specification:

Essential

Education, Qualifications and Affiliations

  • Achieved or studying towards a recognised Accountancy qualification (AAT, CIMA, ACCA)
  • 5 GCSE’s grade A-C or 4-9 including Maths and English.

Desirable

  • AAT Qualification or similar.
  • Graduate
  • Completed qualifications from an accredited institution may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Experience

Essential

  • Demonstrable experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
  • Previous experience within an accounting function.
  • Comfortable working on a number of projects simultaneously.
  • Knowledge of accounting terms and concepts.
  • Understanding of finance principles.
  • Awareness of the concepts of business strategy and methodology.
  • Computer literate and able to learn a wide range of software packages with focus on Microsoft Excel.

Desirable

  • Previous experience in an engineering / manufacturing company within a similar role.
  • Knowledge and experience of working with an ERP (preferably Microsoft AX or SAP)

Licenses or Certifications

Essential

  • Eligible to work in the UK.

  • Full valid passport.
  • Full driving license.
