The Opportunity

Avantor is looking for a dedicated Logistics & Procurement Coordinator to join our team based onsite in Macclesfield, UK. This is a hands-on role supporting our teams, ensuring the smooth operation of scientific laboratories and manufacturing areas through efficient management of consumables, chemicals, and equipment.

This is a full-time, permanent position based onsite at Macclesfield. Alongside a competitive salary, we offer a comprehensive benefits package including a bonus, pension scheme, private medical and dental care, and an additional day off for your birthday.

Working hours: Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM (36.5 hours/week)

The Team

You’ll be part of a collaborative and supportive team consisting of four Procurement Coordinators and one Supply Chain Apprentice, all working together to ensure smooth laboratory and manufacturing operations. This role sits within our Lab and Production Services division, which partners with leading pharmaceutical companies and research institutions globally.

What We’re Looking For

  • Background in logistics, inventory coordination, or procurement; scientific or regulated environments are a plus
  • Strong attention to detail, organisational skills, and excellent customer service skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Office applications; familiarity with inventory systems like Kanban
  • Willingness to work in sterile environments with PPE requirements (no makeup or jewellery)
  • Proactive and driven mindset, passionate about contributing to life-changing scientific work

How You’ll Thrive And Create An Impact

  • Source and supply consumables, chemicals, and equipment for labs and packaging teams, ensuring timely availability
  • Collect and process item requests from the Global Packing Centre, physically distribute supplies using trolleys, and maintain stock levels
  • Archive procurement and inventory records both manually and digitally, following customer procedures and compliance standards
  • Liaise with internal procurement and external suppliers to optimise costs and manage stock efficiently
  • Monitor inventory using Kanban and other tools, raise purchase orders when needed, and flag shortages in the system
