Roxel is an Anglo-French Company that designs, develops and manufactures a range of solid propellant rocket motors for use in tactical missiles. Its operations are spread across several sites in the UK and France and it has an annual turnover of about £200M and nearly 1000 staff. The UK operations are entirely based at Summerfield, Kidderminster where we have a permanent vacancy for a Logistics Operative to join the Logistics Department.
The role of Logistics Operative is focused around working with both inert and energetic material stores on a day-to-day basis. Control of goods received and management of all outbound materials according to daily, weekly and or monthly schedules is essential. Working closely with the Materials Planning Logistics team, Cell Management, and other functional department leads to ensure all goods and materials are delivered to the right place at the right time.
The successful candidate should be able to demonstrate a consistent approach and time management skills. Key to this role is accepting and rejecting deliveries throughout site and you will need to be able to work to a high level of accuracy, with attention to details and excellent communication skills.
Overview And Scope Of Role
– Work closely with logistics and warehousing in co-ordinating the receipt, storage, and timely delivery of goods and materials across site.
– Ensure site inventory levels are suitably maintained by undertaking cycle counts.
– Effectively communicate with all departments to keep them fully informed of the movement of goods and materials across site.
– Monitor all kitting documents and ensure compliance to the operational plan.
– Load and unload delivery vehicles, by hand or with a forklift truck.
– Check for damaged or missing items, to then sort stock for storage in the warehouse.
– Take goods to the appropriate storage space.
– Keep a careful record of stock on the warehouse management system, so that it can be located quickly.
– Operate a forklift truck to move and rearrange stock and ensure that products are stored safely (especially chemicals and energetic material) and labelled correctly.
– Kit orders from the storage space and bringing them to the kitting bay for transportation as required.
– Ensure orders are packaged and labelled correctly to prevent returned orders or damaged goods.
– Organise transfers and load goods on to delivery vehicles.
– Ensure Health and Safety standards are upheld and communicated throughout the site.
– Additional responsibilities and projects as requested by the business.
– Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) are accurately adhered to ensuring data accuracy at all times.
– Any other reasonable requests.
Qualifications
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential Qualifications
– 5 GCSE’s at Level 4 or above (must include Maths and English).
– Forklift Truck Licence.
Desirable Qualifications
– Safety Awareness.
– DGSA Qualification or a willingness to work towards.
Experience
Essential Previous Proven Experience
– Can demonstrate experience of working withing a manufacturing / warehouse environment.
– Strong IT competencies with experience of working with Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word and Outlook) and MRP/MES Systems.
– Knowledge and experience with TROPOS or other ERP Systems.
Desirable Experience
– Experience of working with a Lean Culture e.g. Kaizen, Kanban, 7 waste principles, SQCDPI techniques.
– Working knowledge of quality requirements of both processes and product manufacturing.
