Litigation Paralegal

Reports to: Head of Debt

Location: Leicester, LE3 5BZ

Working hours: Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours a week

We are looking for an energetic, confident legal executive/experienced paralegal to join our litigation and dispute resolution solution within the wider debt and commercial function. You will handle a caseload of pre-action and litigated matters.

What We Need from Yü

Here’s a taste of what you’ll be doing:

• Review of matters and undertaking of all pre-action steps.
• Issuing of Court Action and taking all steps up to and including enforcement.
• Preparation of and drafting of Court documentation from issue to include when required Statements of Case, Witness Statements, Disclosure Statements and Bundles.
• Experience working on small claims, Fast/intermediate as well Multi track claims.
• Able to provide guidance and training to paralegals and legal admins.
• Gathering the necessary evidence and data required to bring valid claims in large volumes
• Strong understanding of the civil procedure rules
• Is able to conduct research and analysis of case law to support legal argument
• Confident Advocacy
• Negotiate settlements and engage in dispute resolution on behalf of clients
• Experience with a case management system
• Delivery of commercial litigation and support a win/win culture from within.
• Provide front-line legal advice/support in connection with the development and maintenance of our growing customer base.

• Technically strong litigation experience: CILEx – Qualified or studying you must be able to work under limited supervision
• Confident advocate – you have strong communication skills in Court and are able to demonstrate your knowledge of the CPR;
• Subject matter expert – ideally you have experience of litigating energy debt;
• Ambitious – Keen to take the next step in leading a legal solution for a rapidly growing business to business utility company;
• Team player – you’re happy to help a fellow colleague ;
