We are looking for an enthusiastic individual who is keen to progress their career in the exciting world of leisure.
Whilst undertaking the day-to-day duties of a lifeguard, which includes ensuring the safety, security, and cleanliness of all areas at all times, you will also have the opportunity to undertake a structured progressive training programme formed around the core elements of the National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ). You may also provide coaching and teaching services to customers.
Based at Tonbridge Swimming Pool, you will be required to work on a shift basis which will include evenings and weekends. The ideal applicant will be customer focused with a natural ability to communicate effectively with a wide variety of user. You will also already hold a current NPLQ.
Specific duties:
• To facilitate and supervise the operational activities of the Centre, ensuring the safety of users at all times, with particular emphasis on the safety of pool users.
• To ensure the safe and proper use of the Centre's facilities and equipment by users, acting on and reporting accidents or damage as required by the Centre's procedures.
• To efficiently prepare facilities, ensuring that equipment is safely stored and facilities remain clean and free from hazard.
• To assist in the upkeep and security of the Centre and immediate surroundings, as directed by the Duty Manager, making certain that standards of cleanliness and hygiene are maintained.
• To ensure that equipment is maintained in good order and safe condition and that any defects are properly reported.
• To assist with induction of new staff, acting as mentor on shadow shifts and providing guidance in Centre procedures as directed by the Duty Manager.
• To assist the Duty Manager with the collection and reconciliation of monies as required.
• To provide coaching and teaching services to Centre users where appropriate, as required by the Centre programme.
• To assist in the organisation of and participate in the Centre’s Special Events Programme.
• To provide First Aid assistance as necessary to promote recovery and to fully report any such incidents.
• Demonstrate awareness/understanding of equal opportunities and other people’s behavioural, physical, social and welfare needs.
• To carry out any other duties which fall within the broad spirit, scope, levels and purpose of this job description. • To attend meeting and any training as directed by the Manager.
• To ensure that reasonable care is taken at all times for the health, safety and welfare of you and other persons, and to comply with policies and procedures relating to health and safety within the Trust.
• To adhere to the Trust’s policies and procedures.
