Lewisham Community Pilot Programme Manager

We have an incredibly exciting and rare opportunity to lead and manage the successful implementation of an exciting new community mental health pilot. The programme is a strategic priority for the Trust and will have a major national profile with NHS England who are hoping that the pilot will radically transform how we deliver mental health care in the UK.

Following a highly competitive bid process, Lewisham was selected by NHS England as one of six national pilot sites to test a new model of mental health care for adults with serious mental health needs. The bid was led by South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust, as part of the Lewisham Mental Health Alliance.

The Programme Manager will lead a diverse group of stakeholders, manage dependencies across programmes, and support the strategic objectives of the pilot through structured methodologies and effective leadership.

Working collaboratively with operational and leadership teams, and NHS England, the role will foster a culture of shared learning, and adaptive change management.

This position is key in driving the evaluation framework, supporting decision-making for future interventions, and maintaining high programme quality as it transitions into business as usual.

This dynamic role requires flexibility, expertise, and an ability to act as a trusted advisor to internal and external partners, contributing to the development and delivery of the pilot, as well as exit strategies, and future investment planning for the redesign of mental health services.

South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust (SLaM) offer the widest range of NHS mental health services in the UK as well as substance misuse services for people who are addicted to drugs and alcohol. We work closely with the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology and Neuroscience (IoPPN), King's College London and are part of King's Health Partners Academic Health Sciences Centre.
