Medivet Thurmaston 24-hour Hospital is a 2.5 Vet practice managed by our Practice Manager Claire. We have a great opportunity for a Lead Vet to join us full time, working a 4 day week Monday to Friday and 1 in 6 weekends (including a bank holiday rota) with no on call – we can be open to part time applications too.
Thurmaston, is our recently refurbished head-to-toe practice with a high surgical/soft-tissue caseload supporting local Medivet/non-Medivet clinics in the area providing OOH support. Equipment includes an Xray room (for digital and dental x-ray), ultrasound, endoscopy, tonometer and orthopaedic equipment. The practices has 3 consult rooms currently with plans for an expansion making it even more spacious.
You'll be supported by the wider Thurmaston team which consists of a HVN, 5 RVNs and 3 CCAs and this role is to support all areas of the clinic, consults through to surgery. A nurturing attitude is key for our Lead Vet to have in order help develop and guide our amazing team.

- Provide first class clinical care through consultations, procedures and monitoring
- Complete clinical handover and arrange transfer of any patient needing out of hours or enhanced care
- Provide exceptional client care giving clear updates on patients, resolving issues as they arise
- Observe the highest standards of regulatory, practice and operational compliance
- Prepare accurate estimates for clients, ensuring payment and minimising debt
- Maximise capacity through the most effective utilisation of clinical skills
- Hold engaging clinical meetings with veterinary and nursing teams
- Support and carry out colleague clinical mentoring / development
- Pro-actively support and share clinical best practice within and across clinics and the wider Medivet community
- Support with the growth of our new 24-hour practice
- RCVS registered Veterinary Surgeon, or with the eligibility to be registered
- Confident working sole charge
- A client-oriented approach, with excellent communication skills
- Experience of working to the highest medical and surgical standards
- Experience of working with a team to develop a practice
- Competent in clinical examination and surgery
- Experience of building trusting relationships with colleagues, and working effectively as part of a team
- A great communicator, you will be an outstanding and positive example to others.
