What You'll Be Doing

Reporting to the Software Development Manager, the Lead Software Developer (known internally as the Technical Team Leader) is responsible for the design and development of software systems, primarily using Microsoft’s software development platforms including .NET, SQL Server, and Azure.

Working with a broad client base you will be confident interacting with varied technology across all stages of the SDLC, utilising your development expertise to focus particularly on web applications and data processing.

The Lead Software Developer will manage a small, multi-site team to include 1-2-1's, absence management, and supporting personal development plans. Whilst you will be expected to have had at least some previous supervisory or management exposure, management training is in place to support your growth and development in this respect too.

Requirements

And now for the nitty gritty:

You will need a stong background in commercial system development and have experience across the full SDLC, utilising the Microsoft stack (C#, MS SQL Server with Transact-SQL and No-SQL databases).

You will have Azure expertise (Functions, Storage, Web Apps, API Management, Cosmos DB and Service Bus), Azure DevOps including Build and Release configuration, Entity Framework ORM, Web Services (Web-API/REST and SOAP), SOLID practices, and Source control (Git and Azure DevOps).

You should also be able to demonstrate experience of Unit Testing and Test-Driven Development.

The Lead Software Developer will be an excellent communicator with an aptitude for eliciting requirements and user stories from non-development colleagues, and an ability to transform requirements into a technical plan for implementation whilst maintaining a customer focus.

Prior supervisory/management experience within this space, and an interest in helping to mentor and develop multi-sited team members is also a pre-requisite.
