Description

The Role
We are looking for a Lead Delivery Manager (aligned to SFIA - Level 5) to join our growing team and lead the successful delivery of key client projects.

This is a hands-on role that requires a pro-active, organised, and collaborative individual who can drive delivery excellence across multiple teams and projects.

For this role you need to be able to demonstrate that you can lead the delivery aspects of a complex project. The Lead Delivery Manager will be responsible for ensuring that our delivery processes are followed, projects are delivered on time and within scope, and that client expectations are met or exceeded. They will work closely with cross-functional teams including Product, Design, Dev and QA, and report directly to the COO.

This role is pivotal in ensuring the smooth execution of our most important initiatives and will require strong stakeholder management, communication, and leadership skills.

The Most Important Thing
There are two key aspects to this role:
  • It is hands-on – You will be actively involved in planning, tracking, and delivering projects to our clients. This will include creating and maintaining delivery plans and managing scope and contractual conversations with clients.
  • You empower teams – Your role is to remove blockers, foster collaboration, and create an environment where teams can thrive. This is not a command-and-control role; success is measured by how well you enable others to deliver.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own the end-to-end delivery of large-scale complex projects, ensuring alignment with business goals and client expectations.
  • Champion and enforce delivery best practices, agile principles, and continuous improvement across teams.
  • Identify, track, and remove delivery impediments, escalating where necessary to maintain momentum.
  • Create and maintain delivery plans, roadmaps and timelines, ensuring visibility across stakeholders.
  • Facilitate agile ceremonies (e.g., stand-ups, retrospectives, sprint planning) and ensure they are efficient and outcome driven.
  • Collaborate closely with Product Managers to align delivery with product strategy and priorities.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for clients during project delivery, ensuring transparency, trust and satisfaction.
  • Lead structured change control processes to manage scope adjustments, ensuring alignment with contractual obligations and governance standards.
  • Ensure smooth closure and transition of delivered solutions, including handover and post-delivery reviews.
  • Utilise visual tracking tools (e.g. dashboards, burndown charts) to communicate progress and delivery statuses to stakeholders.
  • Assess and plan team capabilities with resource team for successful delivery.
  • Work within fixed-price contracts that require Waterfall-style delivery methodologies and strict adherence to scope.
  • Apply commercial awareness to delivery decisions, balancing client expectations with internal constraints.
  • Monitor and manage project risks, issues and dependencies, pro-actively mitigating them.
  • Regularly report to the COO and senior leadership on delivery statuses, risks and opportunities.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration and continuous improvement within delivery teams.
  • Support resource planning and capacity management across multiple projects.
  • Coach and mentor team members on delivery practices and agile methodologies.

Basic Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a Delivery Manager or similar role in a digital, agile and client-facing environment.
  • Strong understanding of agile delivery frameworks (Scrum, Kanban) as well as Waterfall delivery, and project management tools (e.g. DevOps, Jira, Monday.com).
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple concurrent projects with competing priorities.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, including experience working with senior leadership and clients.
  • Solid understanding of the software development lifecycle and the roles of Product, Design, Development, QA, and DevOps.
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive, solutions-oriented mindset.
  • Experience delivering projects using both Agile and Waterfall methodologies, with an understanding of when each is appropriate.
  • Ability to interpret and manage contractual obligations, especially in fixed-price engagements.
  • Comfortable using delivery metrics and analytics to guide decisions and improve performance.
  • Awareness of sustainability, accessibility and ethical delivery practices.

  • We’re devoted to continuous improvement in everything we do.
  • Join a culturally diverse and inclusive team.
