A Snapshot of Your Day
As a Laboratory Technician, you will support the production, testing, and characterisation of innovative metallic alloys. Your day will involve preparing and analysing samples, ensuring accurate reporting, and collaborating closely with engineering teams. You will also liaise with subcontractors for specialist testing, playing an essential role in delivering cutting-edge solutions to global clients.

Our Gas Services division offers Low-emission power generation through service and decarbonization. Zero or low emission power generation and all gas turbines under one roof, steam turbines and generators. Decarbonization opportunities through service offerings, modernization, and digitalization of the fleet.

As a Laboratory Technician, you will support the production, testing, and characterisation of innovative metallic alloys. Your day will involve preparing and analysing samples, ensuring accurate reporting, and collaborating closely with engineering teams. You will also liaise with subcontractors for specialist testing, playing an essential role in delivering cutting-edge solutions to global clients.
How You’ll Make an Impact
- Collect and blend powder samples from the printing process.
- Prepare and test metallurgical samples, recording and reporting accurate results.
- Operate and maintain metallographic and characterisation equipment, including chemical and particle analysis tools.
- Collaborate with engineers to support project schedules and develop in-house testing capabilities.
- Manage subcontracted testing and produce detailed reports on findings.
- A degree in materials science, preferably metallurgy, with at least one year of relevant industrial or research experience.
- Knowledge of sample preparation, metallurgical characterisation, and image analysis.
- Familiarity with particle size analysis, chemical analysis techniques, and alloy systems such as nickel superalloys, titanium, and aluminium.
- An understanding of alloy heat treatment and mechanical testing methods.
- A methodical and detail-oriented approach, with strong communication and IT skills.
- Adaptability, initiative, and the ability to work to deadlines in a collaborative environment.
