Group Overview

Special Air Missions Group (SAM)
is responsible for developing and delivering Metrea’s Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR), Special Mobility, and Aerial Firefighting (AFF) capabilities. SAM oversees the integration of new mission systems, ensuring operational readiness across specialized aviation operations. It manages fleet maintenance, regulatory compliance, and strategic partnerships to enhance mission effectiveness. By consolidating expertise and infrastructure, SAM ensures Metrea’s airborne capabilities remain adaptable and mission-ready across dynamic operational environments.  

Role And Responsibilities

  • Operate a King Air 200/300 in accordance with EASA/CAA and company/customer directive as the Pilot in Command
  • Lead a team of Pilots to deliver safe and effective flight operations.
  • Assist the flight operations team in developing SOP’s and maintaining regulatory compliance.
  • Coordinate all flights with appropriate Fixed Based Operators, Air Traffic Contact (ATC) facilities (military and civilian), Company Site Leads, and Mission Coordination Services.
  • Perform ISR (Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance) flights in day, night and all-weather conditions (within defined safety limits)
  • Must be able to operate from remote, austere locations, possibly on unimproved runways.
  • Completes all safety of flight documentation in accordance with applicable industry and EASA/CAA standards.

Skills And Experience

  • Minimum 1000 hours as Pilot-in-Command (PIC)
  • Minimum 3000 Hours total time
  • At least 500 hours PIC time in a multi-engine aircraft
  • Minimum 500 hours operating in a multi-crew environment
  • Previous experience in a senior or management position

Required Licences And Certifications

  • UK CAA or EASA CPL/ATPL with multi-engine and instrument rating (Dual licence preferred)
  • MCC Certificate
  • Must hold and maintain a valid UK Class 1 Medical Certificate
  • Must possess a valid UK or EU passport
  • Must consent to provide access to pilot records and background checks in accordance with UK Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) and company compliance requirements

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Employment is contingent upon successful completion of all required training, background checks, and security clearances. Working hours and shift patterns may vary in line with operational demands to support mission effectiveness and customer satisfaction. The role involves rotational deployments within Europe, comprising of mixed deployment lengths on assignment followed by a similar period off rotation, with the UK as the home base of operations.

Work Location

During deployment, employees may be living under field conditions and must be able to work with little supervision in austere or arduous environments. Work environment varies based on contract.
