Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC)
Band 6 - Junior Sister
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 6- Junior Sister in the Same Day Emergency Care. SDEC offers same day emergency care to patients in a hospital setting. Patients are assessed, diagnosed and treated enabling patients to be discharged and if required return for treatment, diagnostic tests, reviews or referred to a specialty. The SDEC is an integral part of the Emergency Care Pathway.
The service SDEC provides to our patients is growing and we are extending the service hours and how we work. We have a well-established area with a dedicated and caring team and are looking for motivated individuals who enjoy working in a fast paced environment to join us. Having experience within Urgent care or acute setting is essential. You will need to be innovative, dynamic, with enhanced clinical skills and have a good understanding of the assessment process. In turn you will gain experience in being part of a frontline team assessing patients and implementing treatment. Your role will involve co-ordinating the shift, liaising with medical disciplines and members of the MDT, supporting junior staff and deputising for senior management.
The hours of work will be shifts inclusive of
0745 - 20:45, 11:00 - 00:00, SDEC Liaison Nurse (rotation within rota)
Full time or Part time across a 7 day a week roster.
Your role will involve co-ordinating the shift, liaising with medical disciplines and members of the MDT, supporting junior staff and deputising for senior management. You will be triaging patients Taking blood recording ECGs, undertaking Nurse Led tasks
As well as clinical, you will have the opportunity to gain knowledge with the managerial side of the unit, investigating datixs, complaints and carrying out audits. As a Deputy Sister/charge nurse you will be a solid support for the junior staff and will manage 1:1 feedback sessions and appraisals. As part of the management you will play a vital role in feeding any ideas to the senior management as well as cascading news to the rest of the team. A lead by example approach is essential for this role.
As well as clinical, you will have the opportunity to gain knowledge with the managerial side of the unit, investigating datixs, complaints and carrying out audits.
