Junior 2nd Line Support Engineer
Location: Hursley, 5x a week
Clearance requirements - SC eligible 5yrs uk residency
Salary: £28,000 per annum
We are actively looking to secure a Junior 2nd Line Support Engineer to join Experis.

Key Responsibilities
- Provide 2nd line support for critical applications and infrastructure in a high-availability environment.
- Respond to and resolve incidents escalated from 1st line support, taking ownership from diagnosis through to resolution or escalation to 3rd line/vendor where required.
- Ensure effective communication with users, clients, and delivery teams throughout the incident lifecycle.
- Proactively monitor systems and services to prevent issues, using tools such as Netcool and SolarWinds.
- Work collaboratively with IBM delivery teams, third parties, and stakeholders to implement service fixes and process improvements.
- Maintain detailed documentation of issues, fixes, and known errors to support continuous improvement.
- Participate in change management, patching, and system maintenance activities as required.
- Contribute to process and governance improvements, ensuring services are delivered efficiently and to best practice standards.
- Proven experience in a 2nd line support or application support role within a live service/critical environment.
- Knowledge of:
- Netcool (event monitoring)
- ServiceNow (SNOW) or equivalent ITSM tool
- PowerShell scripting for automation and troubleshooting
- SQL (queries, troubleshooting)
- Oracle databases
- SolarWinds (infrastructure monitoring)
- AIX (UNIX administration and support)
- IBM MQ (messaging middleware)
- AWS (EC2, VPC - cloud infrastructure basics)
