Abbott Diabetes Care designs, develops and manufactures leading-edge glucose monitoring systems and test strips for use in both home and hospital settings. Our product portfolio includes Freestyle Libre, a recently launched system that is revolutionising how people with diabetes around the world monitor their glucose levels. We currently have an opportunity for an IT Technical Specialist (Applications Systems Analyst) to join our UK IT team, based in Witney, Oxfordshire, providing third line IT support and leading projects, particularly those in the local manufacturing area.
Responsibilities And Experience
In this role, you will play a key part in obtaining business critical requests and translating them into technical requirements through the provision of technical understanding, expertise and direction. Whether you are involved in application system specification, development, testing or fault diagnosis & resolution, you will act as the interface between all involved parties, coordinating activities and reviewing deliverables through to closure.
You will also be accountable for escalation support for applications delivered and / or supported by the IT department and the interface to third party vendors or corporate IT support.

The ideal candidate will be a versatile individual who takes initiative and is able to work within a small team, but interact on a wider business scale, liaising with stakeholders both in and out of function. You will need to have excellent communication and time management skills, and be comfortable working in a fast-paced, changing environment.

Preferred Skills
- Able to communicate effectively between technical and non-technical groups.
- Oracle & SQL intermediate level database administration.
- Power Bi or other data analysis and presentation tools experience
- Highly adaptable and used to working in a 24/7, fast-paced, changing environment
- Fluent in use of Microsoft Co-Pilot and/or other Generative AI technology
- Comfortable with authoring documentation including Software Development Lifecycle
- Experience in supporting or administering one or more of the following would be advantageous: SQL & Oracle databases, POMSnet MES, Kepware, Bartender, OSI Pi, or Maximo.
