Job Advert: Project Manager – IT Project Delivery- 12 Months Fixed Term

Job Title: Project Manager

Location: 2 days a week based in Solihull, 3 days remote.

Role Overview

Linnaeus is embarking on a complex Windows Build (Win10 > Win11) Replacement project with a 12-month completion target. This project will introduce new technologies, including LAPS, AutoPilot, and centralised printer management, alongside policies for removable device encryption.

The Project Manager will lead the organisation and execution of this project, ensuring it is completed on time, within scope, and within budget. The role requires managing 3rd party engineers and internal technical teams, prioritising resources effectively, and collaborating with other project managers.

Additionally, the Project Manager will oversee the integration of local domains into the main Linnaeus IT estate, ensuring seamless transitions and supporting associated projects.

This is a 12 Month Fixed Term project

Key Responsibilities

  • Define & Scope project mandates, identifying necessary internal and external resources.
  • Document and manage project dependencies.
  • Engage with relevant stakeholders and ensure technical feasibility.
  • Deliver the Windows 11 Build Refresh project on-time, within scope, and budget.
  • Develop and maintain a detailed project plan.
  • Measure performance using tools like RACI matrices and reporting techniques.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation.
  • Coordinate internal and third-party resources for project execution.
  • Ensure service transition is effectively managed.
  • Run SteerCo meetings, providing clear communication to stakeholders.
  • Apply change management techniques and escalate issues where necessary.
  • Perform risk management to mitigate potential setbacks.
  • Establish and maintain strong vendor relationships.
  • Deliver effective communication through reports, presentations, and workshops.

Person Specification

Essential Experience & Skills:

  • 5+ years of successful IT project delivery experience.
  • Proven experience managing full lifecycle IT projects.
  • Strong understanding of Project Management frameworks (e.g., PRINCE2, Agile).
  • Excellent written & verbal communication skills.
  • Experience leading steering groups & working groups.
  • Strong stakeholder management and ability to communicate technical details to a non-technical audience.
  • Ability to negotiate and enforce third-party contracts.
  • Strong professional image and interpersonal skills.
  • Full UK driving licence (some site work required).

Desirable Experience & Skills:

  • Experience delivering platform upgrades, infrastructure, and software rollouts.
  • Experience managing local domain complexities.
  • Formal Project Management qualifications (PRINCE2 Practitioner, Agile, etc.).
  • Business analysis skills, including project briefs and requirements definition.
  • Understanding of the veterinary or healthcare sector is advantageous.
