The role
The IT Governance Specialist will help manage our IT General Controls (ITGC) framework, including risk assessment, planning, deficiency evaluation, and remediation in collaboration with our Internal Audit, External Audit, and IT support teams.

The role
The IT Governance Specialist will help manage our IT General Controls (ITGC) framework, including risk assessment, planning, deficiency evaluation, and remediation in collaboration with our Internal Audit, External Audit, and IT support teams.
Responsibilities
Audit
- Manage compliance lifecycle components, including:
- Risk assessment and scoping
- Evaluation and remediation of deficiencies identified through testing
- Plan remediation activities
- Help evaluate the design of IT controls for new applications to ensure compliance.
- Engage with process and control owners to establish enterprise-level controls.
- Work with Internal and External Audit teams to ensure cohesive testing strategies.
- Identify opportunities to improve the ITGC framework.
- Create and maintain policies and procedures
- Perform user access reviews across key applications.
- Identify, collect, and review SOC1 reports for third-party dependencies affecting internal controls over financial reporting (ICFR).
- Identify risks and update appropriate logs.
- Lead the execution of less complex audits to assess the effectiveness of internal controls.
- Conduct interviews and process walkthroughs to gather insights on business processes, risks, and controls.
- Produce high-quality audit documentation observing industry standards.
- Identify control issues and recommend practical enhancements.
- Communicate audit progress, findings, and recommendations to relevant team members.
- Manage audit remediation activities, ensuring their timely completion.
- Assess control effectiveness against identified risks and suggest process improvements for audit remediation.
- Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 4-5 years of experience in IT risk and compliance, focusing on ITGCs, SOX and IT Controls.
- Proficient in managing ITGCs and IT application controls in environments such as SaaS applications, cloud infrastructures, in-house developed applications, and on-premises infrastructures.
- Experience with Enterprise systems (e.g., Workday, Oracle, Maconomy, Certinia) and other critical platforms.
- Knowledge of industry standards like COBIT and their application in IT compliance.
- Relevant certifications such as CGEIT or CISA.
- Analytical, organisational, and problem-solving capabilities.
- Able to articulate complex IT issues to non-technical audiences.
- Experience in or with publicly traded companies, Big Four audit firms, or similar is advantageous.
