Learning Resources Ltd also sells and distributes a wide product range from our wider family of brands including Hand2Mind and Educational Insights as well as holding the global Master Toy License for Numberblocks.

Team & Position Description

Reporting to the Head of Operations, the Inventory Manager will lead the inventory and purchasing team, overseeing all aspects of stock control to ensure optimal inventory levels are maintained year-round. This role requires strong project management and problem-solving skills, with a focus on supporting the team to consistently meet and exceed departmental goals.

Responsibilities

What you will do day to day (responsibilities):

  • Inventory Procurement & Management Efficiently purchase inventory from suppliers to meet demand while minimizing costs and ensuring stock availability.
  • Inventory Optimization & Cost Savings Plan and implement strategies to improve inventory control processes and uncover cost-saving opportunities.
  • Supplier Coordination Manage supplier relationships and orders to guarantee timely shipment and delivery of goods.
  • Logistics & Forwarding Collaborate with freight forwarders to negotiate optimal pricing and service levels for inbound shipments.
  • 3PL Relationship Management Liaise with third-party logistics providers (3PL) to ensure efficient inbound operations, performance management, and accurate stock handling.
  • Team Leadership & Development Mentor and develop team members to enhance skillsets, foster growth, and build a high-performance team culture.


What We Are Looking For (Key Performance Objectives)

  • Process Improvement & Efficiency Gains. Collaborate with team members to review and streamline departmental processes, focusing on time savings and cost reduction opportunities.
  • KPI Reporting & Data Analysis. Drive continuous enhancement of reporting tools and dashboards to deliver accurate, actionable data aligned with key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Freight Cost Benchmarking. Regularly benchmark freight and shipping costs to ensure optimal value and service from logistics providers.
  • Inventory Availability & Backorder Reduction. Monitor and manage inventory levels to minimize backorders and ensure consistent product availability.


Requirements/Ideal Attributes

  • Experience : Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in inventory management or a similar supply chain role.
  • Technical Proficiency: Hands-on experience with inventory management systems such as Microsoft Dynamics 365 (D365), Optima, or equivalent platforms.
  • Organisational & Project Management Skills: Proven ability to manage multiple tasks, projects, and priorities effectively and efficiently.
  • Leadership & Communication: Strong communication skills with demonstrated leadership ability in managing and mentoring teams.
  • Analytical & Problem-Solving: Keen attention to detail with the ability to analyse issues, identify root causes, and implement effective solutions.
  • Team Collaboration: Ability to work well cross-functionally and contribute positively to a team-oriented environment.
