Position Summary

At Metrea, the fusion of talent and technology solves persistent problems. We’ve established ourselves as a leading developer of innovative software solutions. We’re looking for a competent Intern Software Engineer to join our software team. Our ideal candidate will have a knowledge of software development processes including design, writing code and testing. If developing new software products and improving existing software products with well-structured and documented code are amongst your talents, we’d like to hear from you.

Role And Responsibilities

  • Visualize, design, and develop innovative software platforms, as we continue to experience dramatic growth in the usage and visibility of our products.
  • Create scalable software platforms and applications, and efficient networking solutions that are unit tested, code reviewed, and checked regularly for continuous integration
  • Examine existing systems, identifying flaws and creating solutions to improve service uptime and time-to-resolve through monitoring and automated remediation
  • Plan and execute full software development life cycles (SDLC) for each assigned project, adhering to company standards and expectations

Daily And Monthly Responsibilities

  • Develop software and applications, applying synchronous and asynchronous design patterns, write code, and deliver with urgency and quality
  • Collaborate with teammates, to deliver software solutions against project work plans.

Skills And Experience

  • Any of the following qualification will be considered
  • A Level pass in a mathematics or software engineering subject.
  • Experience in one or more of the following disciplines would be beneficial:
  • Agile Scrum software development methodology
  • Development of software for Windows/Linux based platforms
  • C/C++/C#/Java/Python/GoLang
  • Web Development using Javascript Frameworks
  • HTML/CSS/PHP
  • SQL/NoSQL Databases
  • Mobile application development
  • IP Networking
  • Design processes, including development, tests, analytics, and troubleshooting
  • Software Testing - Scripting and test automation
  • Full driving licence is highly desirable.

Additional Eligibility Qualifications

  • Undergo UK government security vetting.
  • Sign the Official Secrets Act
  • Desire to continue to grow personal professional capabilities with ongoing training and educational opportunities

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time non-exempt position with typical working hours of Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Hours and work shifts may change in accordance with department and business needs. Exempt Employees must have the ability to be on-call and available, as business needs require. Non-Exempt employees may be required to work over 37.5 hours per week with approval from the department manager.
