Your Role And Responsibilities

As a CMOS circuit design intern at IBM Quantum, you will contribute to the development of integrated circuits that support quantum computing systems. This may include digital, analog, mixed-signal, and RF blocks for qubit control, readout, and biasing. You will work closely with researchers to explore scalable, low-power, and high-precision circuit architectures that interface with quantum processors.

Master's Degree

Required Technical And Professional Expertise

  • Experience in an academic graduate program related to analog/mixed-signal/RF circuit design
  • Coursework or projects in CMOS digital design, CMOS analog design, digital signal processing, data converters design, frequency synthesizer design
  • Familiarity with Cadence Virtuoso & Spectre simulation tools and/or Cadence Innovus
  • Experience with one or more general-purpose programming languages such as Python or MATLAB for data analysis and automation

Preferred Technical And Professional Experience

  • Understanding of system-level considerations in communications (e.g., noise, linearity, scalability)
  • Hands-on experience with chip measurement setups, including probing and RF test equipment
  • Knowledge of digital synthesis and/or layout techniques for advanced CMOS nodes (e.g., FinFET technologies)
  • Experience with scripting for test automation and post-processing of measurement data
  • Familiarity with Git/GitHub for version control and collaboration
  • Strong publication record or contributions to conference papers (e.g., ISSCC, RFIC, VLSI, JSSC)
